1st was a 2 man inflatable with oars that my mom got for me using green stamps, i think. Does anyone remember green stamps? They were kind of like "MArlboro Miles". I was 10 or 11 and me and a cousin would fold that thing up and get it and all our gear on a 3-wheeler (they were the hot ATV at the time). We would ride over to the Baptist Associations camp where there was a small lake for some bluegill and bass fishing. After we spent 30 minutes pumping it up.

Been there done that .. you should try getting a raft 5 miles down a hill almost as bad as mont eagle with a ten speed and a make shift trailer , made with bicycle tires, that and 8 rods and a suitcase tackle box, oars, and life jacket ! But man did I ever catch some fish in my old raft .. I don't even remember what happen to it.

Only had two,

First was a 1985 Dynatrak 178SS 18' fish & ski with a 115 merc straight 6 on it. Purchased the boat in 1990 and sold it in 2004. It was great boat. My girls grew up in it and we have some really good memories of good times in that boat. Really hated to sell it when I did, but you know how the bigger, faster, better bug is! In 2004 I got a 2000 Viper Coral 202 20' fish & ski with a 225 merc EFI on it. I think I have the only Coral around here and I love my boat. It is really the best fish & ski made. It is more fish than ski and that is what I like about it. It is the same hull as Viper's 201 bass boat with a fish & ski cap. It has two 7' rod lockers up front and a 45 gallon flow rite live well. It will run in the upper 60's and if I set it up for just pure speed I'm sure I could see 70 mph gps out of it. Right now I'm running a 25p power tech TRO4 prop and it is a good mix of holeshot, good cruise speed, and top end.
This is a good thread as it is interesting to read how others have evolved into their current rides.

1st boat I remember fishing out of with dad was a 15 ft fiberglass boat he made with a 55 Evinrude around a 70 model.
2nd boat was a 1976 16 ft Hydrosport with a 1971 Johnson 115.
3rd was a 1988 20 ft Vision with a 1984 Johnson GT 150 later upgraded to a 1995 Mariner 150. Wouldn't run worth a #&^%# but I can't imagine any better fishing boat!!
4th is a 2005 Triton TR-186 with a 2005 Mercury 150.

1st and only boat I have owned:

2003 Triton TR-19 w/ 2003 200 HO Evinrude.......now if i had just waited on the E-tec!!!!!!!

Before that, I took NUMEROUS trips in cooperjd's boats! carl

1st 12' Sears fiberglass Semi-V w/ 5hp air cooled
Went on a catfishig tournament with my nephew in that one and the wind picked up. Couldn't get out of a cove because the motor didnt have enough umph to get over the waves. Just kept getting pushed back into the cove. emoBang Had to sleep on the island overnight and come back in after the tournament was over.

2nd 15.5 tri-hull w/ 50hp johnson. Very old boat but ran well as long as I primed it everytime I wanted to start it.

3rd and current after close to 10 years w/o a boat I now have a 16' Marquis walk-thru with Mercruiser 100. In the process of adapting for fishing.

See I have four kids (3 grown now) and my wife. At any point in time I will need to be able to carry 6 people so the conventional bass boat just won't work.

If anyone would like to donate one to me as my second boat I would have no problem. emoCool

1974 Arrowglass bass boat with a 70 horse Evinrude - Joined a bass club that year and had the second biggest motor in the club. Most were fishing out of 14 foot Singfishers with 40 hp motors and stick steering. My wife and I bought that boat new three years after we got married. Many great memories in that boat over the next 6 years we fished out of it.

One bad memory - picked up the boat in Atlanta on a Saturday morning in March, 1974 and pulled it to Clarks Hill - fished all weekend. Headed home on I-20 Sunday night a guy in a truck hit me from behind. Of course I was not smart enough back then to get insurance in advance - went round and round with guy that hit me and State Farm for 6 weeks - had to get the state insurance commissioner's office involved before collecting. Still hate State Farm for the way they treated a 24 year old with a new broke bass boat.
