This past Thursday myself along with 3 others waited 20 min on a couple of guys to lauch a canoe at Skull Island. They had the whole ramp blocked because they backed down crooked. They leisurely loaded and mounted the trolling motor, coolers, dept finder, batteries, fishing rods, seats and life jackets with the ramp blocked. Good Lord! Be considerate to others! Have your boat ready to launch when the ramp is yours.

Amen! Makes you wonder how many people really don't know any better and how many just don't care.

Its because they dont care...I would have had to say something to them.

Some people are just inconsiderate and then others are just down right obliviously stupid to what goes on outside their own little world. I had a little trouble loading my boat Sunday and felt bad about it, but I was trying to do it quickly and quickly caused a couple of problems in the wind. I'm glad there was no one waiting, but they would have seen that I was atleast trying to clear the ramp ASAP. A couple of years ago I had a guy block two thirds of the ramp at HB and then took his time getting ready to launch his boat. He removed his tie downs on the ramp and everything. I tried to be patient and then finally said the heck with it and backed down the ramp about a foot from his boat and so close he could not get back in his truck. He had to wait until I had launched, tied up, and then pulled the truck up before he got to launch. Yes it was rude of me, but totally in order for this gentleman.

Has anyone tried to post ramp ethics at the ramps for people who don't know any better? Maybe talk with TWA or parks people???

Something I have done in the past is to go ask if they would like some help. Some don't know, some are new, some don't care. Heck you can't launch, might as well see what happens. Might be good.

I agree, the only problem with posting a sign with ethics is that most of the people who do things like that either don't or can't read, much less care.emoBang

How about posting a sign that reads.

BE CONSIDERATE OF OTHERS!
BE READY TO LAUNCH!
LAUNCH!
GET OUT OF THE WAY!

emoBang I just went thru the same thing.BUT i had told them they need to make ready before they try to launch.there reply was you dont own the dock.well that was not not cool so i had to them how the cow ate the cabbage.sides that there boat wasant registered. by that time the game cop showed up and heard all of there ignorant quap and would not let them launch.emoLaugh therefore they were pissed to say the leased.

Well you may not be able to hurry them up much but when they come back to the ramp off the water and they have to have a tow truck and new tires they'll get the message.emoEnforce

I would not go as far as slashing tires or anything like that as I would not want someone doing that to my vehicle or trailer. I would not intentionally get in the way of someone enjoying a day of fishing or fun, but there are always people who will misinterpret things. I do carry a note pad and pen in the truck and a note on a windshield explaining the problem never hurt anyone. A lot of us grew up boating and like myself learned from my Dad to be ready to launch and get the heck out of the way. Some people have never even backed a trailer, and know nothing about ethics. The problem is people that should know better and just don't care about anyone else. To them I say I hope you drop a prop, and see if I tow you butt back to the ramp.

If I do tow you back by the time we get back (real slow) you will have a full understanding of ramp ethics.

I agree with a few of the post, many people just do realize how rude they are being. I think this is just a product of the changes in society.

I have left a few notes to assist and have offered assistance. I really do not think heated conversation will help anything.
