What history shows us is many failed socialist countries like Nazi Germany, Red China, and the Soviet Union just to name a few. For times sake I will not get in to any of the African Nations. Not to mention all the great human atrocities that took place and are currently taking place under the curtain of Socialism. To the contrary pure capitalism will never fail. Sure certain companies will fail but their assets will be bought by competitors or entrepreneurs who will continue to provide the products and services under a different name. Plus these companies will employ many people and I will use your term "spread the wealth" much more efficiently than the gov't can. Your darn right profit is good you wouldn't have a job without it. Ask yourself who controls the real wealth in the country now hmmmm let me think in the past six months the gov't has taken over the largest company in the world in GM, they have taken over a vast amount of the financial system, and now are aiming for another takeover of 6% of our economy in controlling healthcare. So who's mercy will we be at if you said the gov't go to the front of the class. The real question is do you trust them? I sure as hell do not.
Most of those countries you mentioned were either Communist or Facist. not socialist like many European countries today. What atrocities are you talking about? Pure Capitalism has failed evidence is all the safety nets that exist, i.e. Bankruptcy, Monopaly Laws, FDIC, Tarrifs, Social Security, Substidies, minimum wage, labor laws, and unemployment just to name a few, under pure capitalism none of those things exist. You work for what someone is willing to pay. You get sick too bad. Bank goes under money goes away. Walmart runs everyone out, controls prices and labor. Raise Tarrifs to avoid compitetion. The puppit gov't provides sustidies to business just like the early Railroads and steal industries. Last people work for Slave wages. There is your da.. Pure Capitalist society. What does it eventually lead too pure market collapse, which is what is being avoided at present time. Not doing so create an avenue for someone to come in and destroy Democracy with their facist or communist view points. Just like what happened in Europe, Soviet Union, and China at the early stage of the 20th century. Mixed economic systems is were the world economies are heading, and to stay competetive that is were we will go and there is not much since in us arguing about it because it is just the nature of what is happening. With the world reaching or outrunning its carrying capacity, we will no longer be able to afford wars in the future, or lack of doing nothing for the poor because we all breath the same air, desease has no friends or foes. By the way if our Gov't had not bailed out these companies that failed under the last administration, you would revisit what many of your Grand parents experience during the 1930's. However, here we go again cleaning up an unregulated mess. To do nothing, you guys don't want that, or maybe you do. That way when things go to he.. you can say see I told you so. Good night> or before i go to bed do I need to define Communism, Democracy, Facism, Dictatorship, as form of governments. With Command economies, market economies, traditional economies, or mixed economic systems being the way those forms of governments may run their economies.
