How long is your rod, what weight cranks do you throw, baitcast or spinning reel, how heavy line? That would help

I would buy two 5500Cs or 4500Cs, they last forever and are not all that expensive. They make a great cranking reels but can be used for a lot of different type of bass fishing.emoThumbsup Jmax

I like the Phlueger or Johnny Morris reels myself. I have the Phlueger President, Supreme, and the new Summit and all three are great.

I like the new Revo's from Abu Garcia and I like Daiwa. Just make sure you get the magnetic backlash control. It is better than centrifugal in my opinion. If shimanos had magnetic instead of centrifugal they would dominate everything.

emoUpsmile One thing you can say about all of us is we keep all the reel manufacturers in business.emoBigsmile Did we miss any?emoLaugh Jmax

I ended up getting one of the new Johnny Morris Signature $179 reels for $99 on sale at BPS during thier week-end sale. Wanted to get a Shimano but they did not participate in the old reel rebate program going on during the sale. Will probably buy my next reel from Pro Lures in Dalton. Louie was very responsive and offered a good price on the Citica but I couldn't turn down the sale price at BPS.

Well, how do you like the reel??? Have you even had a chance to use it yet??? If you ever need prices or have any questions just let me know.

I think you`ll the JM.....I have one that has just the centrifical drag and one that has both the centrifical and magnetic drag and love both of them...you can sling a 3/8 Bandit a long way with `em !!...that`s agood price for what your getting....

I just got a johnny morris for about 100 bucks and man that thing is sweeeeet. It makes my other stuff feel like junk. The David Fritts crankin reel is also a good choice for 60 bucks.

I just bought the Johnny Morris reel at bass pro and man its awesome. It is one of the smoothest and easiest baitcasting reels I have ever had. I also just bought the bass pro cranking special reel and like it. The only thing that I dont like about the special is that the line seems to build up on one side.

I agree that the new Revo's look good, and I've heard the Pflueger President is a great reel for the money, but since I don't spend $150.00 for a reel I've been very satisfied with the Diawa BPS exclusive reel they have for around $50 - $60. For the money it seems like a good deal.

Abu Garcia 4600 series. You can purchase them new on ebay for 1/3 or less the cost of one of those others and be happier. Here's one that's brand new, in box right now for 29 bucks: http://cgi.ebay.com/Abu-Garcia-4600...DVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item250086872923

Used ones are just as good in my experience. They just don't get old, they work great and there are parts galore out there if they ever need work. Go Ebay.
