registered guns...

Chattanooga Fishing Forum

Help Support Chattanooga Fishing Forum:

Here is my take for what it is worth. The men in black will not come to your house to get your guns. They simply do not have the resources to get them all. Derrick and others are correct in saying that we have a constitutional right to keep and bear arms. Little by little that right has been chipped away. What I believe is coming are laws that make it illegal to posess certain weapons. When you are caught with the outlawed weapons you will be charged with a felony and will lose your right to keep and bear arms completely. Many states already have laws on the books banning certain weapons and they are NOT full auto firearms. The list of these so called assault weapons grows with every try the liberals come up with.
It is coming folks. One more thing to ponder if you think I am wrong here. Has anyone noticed all the billboards and advertisements all over the country that are talking about gun crimes? The anti gun forces are priming the general populus to hate guns because of what criminals do with them. This is how they roll. They get folks fired up against guns but never address the real problem. CRIMINALS!

Your right on brother Cheez, the legislation is moving through and will be debated, and passed before we know it very soon. Mark my words on this folks.

I have just one thing to add to this:

Guns don't kill people!

People kill people! emoGeezer

God Bless The USA emoUSA

They'll get my guns when they pry them from my cold, dead fingers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spur Hunter is correct there is no gun registration in this country.
He is not correct!! In the state of Illinois you have to have a FIOD (firearm owners identification card) to purchase guns and ammo and in Chicago all guns must be registered. I was living there when these laws were implemented in the late 60's. I registered my....

Soory bub, the comunist state of IL, including CHI-town, is not part of our country.
First, I am not a bub or bubba. I am a simple redneck from the mountains of Eastern Kentucky. Second, your bravado still doesn't make your answer correct. There are other areas in OUR country that have some form of gun registration. Whether or not one agrees with it doesn't alter the fact. For the record, I am not in favor of any type of gun regulation.

r.i.p. heston...........

you better believe if--- there are any supreme court appointments in the next 8 years they will be liberal left wing gun grabbers getting those seats(for life). the court is 1 vote away from redefining the second amendment.

i hear folks everyday say" they cant take our guns " "we have a second amendment".......liberals dont care!

here is a direct quote from 1 of those liberals, who now has the support of a majority in congress === "Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., on CBS "60 Minutes": "If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an outright ban, picking up every one of them -- Mr. and Mrs. America, turn them all in -- I would have done it."

if that dont make your hair stand up i dont know what will emoAngry

I have a few some reg some not but dont think I dont have some pelican cases and a good shovel laying around they wont get them all

Nwright, I appreciate your responses, but you are arguing for the sake of arguing.

To be clear, there is NO gun registration mandated by the Federal Government.

The MAY be laws on the books in some cities or states, but The Federal Government does NOT have access to those records. That IS a law.

I have not said a lot on this but for some reason I now feel compelled to inject a little something. I will start out by saying that although there is no federal gun registration be not deceived, the government knows pretty much where the guns are. I will give an example from personal experience.
Several years ago I bought a Mossberg 835 turkey gun from a local store in Trion, GA. I kept the gun for a while and sold it when I needed some cash. In the meantime the store that I bought the gun from went out of business. About 3 or 4 years after I sold the gun I get a call from an agent from the ATF. The agent asked me if I bought a Mossberg 835 from such and such on such and such date. I told him that I had but really could not remember the date. He then asked me who I had sold it to. I could not remember because it had been so long. I asked the agent why all the questions. He told me that my Mossberg 835 had been found in the trunk of a car THE DAY BEFORE (very important)along with 24 other guns. The car was being driven by a convicted felon and upon searching after a routine traffic stop they found the guns. I asked the agent how he found me so fast since when I bought the gun it was used. He said that they took the serial number to the factory and went from there. My whole point here is that here is a simple little old turkey hunting gun camoflage even, and in less than a day the feds found out who bought it new and who last had it in their hands.
Maybe we don't have registration but believe me when I say, the powers in our government have ways of finding out what we have or at the least what we had if we have ever filled out one of those forms at the gun store.
No real need for registration JMHO

You are partialy correct Cheez. IF they have the serial number in hand, they can perform a "tracer" to see where the gun went after leaving the factory, just as in your case. If a gun is never in the wrong hands, it wont be traced, therefore the GVT never knows who has it. My point is, the do not have a list on any computer of who has what. It will be an enormous nghtmare if they ever decide to confiscate all guns. The cost of tracing so many millions of guns would be so great it would look like another stimulas package... emoBigsmile

I think what it will actually come down to is this. The government will eventually make certain guns illegal to own. Probably something like Australia did a few years ago. They will offer a grace period to turn these guns in for destruction. After the grace period it will become a felony to have these guns in your possession. I do believe they know a lot more than we think about who owns guns. If you have never filled out the 4473 form and had a background check then your name is in a database. I know they say the information is purged from the system after a certain time frame but who can actually prove that.
