I have a 1995 Yamaha 150 with the oil injection. The primary storage tank will not pump over to the small motor mounted storage tank automatically. I have to stop the boat, remove the cowling and activate the manual toggle switch to get the transfer to function. I had a local boat mechanic look at it last spring. The wiring is hot going into the computer but has no power coming out. He said "you need a new computer." He tried bypassing the computer with a jump wire. At his shop the pump activated every time the small holding tank float reached the refill level. HOWEVER, in the water test the pump wouldn't stop and pumped the entire contents of the large storage tank into the small tank and out into the motor shroud. I really don't want to have to buy a new computer to fix the problem. (which might not fix it.)

My question is how easy it is to bypass the oil injection system and revert to a premix with gasoline? I would trust that a lot more than the current set-up.

This is just a guess = If it's not working why don't you disconnect the wires that go to the pump so it can't start working when you don't expect it to and just start mixing the oil in the gas yourself. It can't hurt it if you mix the right ratio of oil to gas in the gas tank.
