Jmax,

An old style 50s~60s Diner motif
I take Mama`on Thursdays to her hair appt and run her errands and in just general, "air her out" emoLaugh

I get a triple chocolate shake sometimes too that comes dressed in a shake glass with the fixins' and the mixer metal container for the rest of the shake to finish it. (they are not thick, but are old-fashioned)

They serve their burgers in a basket with homemade crispy kettle fries that are better than Carrabba's
Order the burger the way you want it and they are pretty consistent too.

I used to like KBs, but the last few times have not worked out well.
Plenty of meat but no flavor or even salt and pepper

emoCool

I was in the area and decided to try a burger there. After Bassert said what he did I just wanted to check them out also. I got there a little after 10:00 and they still had breakfast menus out. Darn, I thought and I wanted a hamburger. About that time a nice young lady asked if she could help me. I told her I was sure wanting a hamburger and not breakfast. She said with a smile, "That was no problem, they could make me a burger." emoThumbsup I told her I wanted the biggest they had with everything and an order of fries. They came back with a burger about the size of a dessert plate, with fries and a pickle on the side. It was a very good burger, the home made kind, no pre-prepared patty here. It was the hand made type. About 3/4th an inch thick, pressed by hand. Then they had a big slice of cheese, lettuce, tomatoes (Two big slices) with onions, mayo and a little mustard. The fries was the thicker wave type with Cajon seasoning on them. The price was not too bad either, $5.75 for the burger, 50 cents more for the cheese, $1.50 for the fries.

The two ladies working in there were very nice, the place was very clean and well kept. I would not mind going back at all. I also saw apple pie and several huge brownies on plates that I bet they serve with some ice cream. Too early for that but may have to try that the next time. This was more my kind of place. Once I ate the burger, fries and pickle I was no longer hunger at all. I am still full and here it is four hours later.

Good call Bassert! emoThumbsup Jmax

Yeah-it's a classic diner! Been there forever and always good!
You put good food out there and Bassert WILL find it! emoToast

Yes it is good just a little hard to get in and out of. Jmax how in the world did you chew through lattice? Did it hurt much or are you that tough? Just joking I assume you meant lettuce.

Just wondering Jmax, does Roy's cook the old fashion way on a open top where you can watch?
I can remember back in the 60's when hamburgers were cook this way and all the fixing and the bun got heated right along side the meat. Its made for a delicious burger that none of the fast food people can match. The last time I found a place that cooked this way was in Hoboken,NJ in 1998. It seems that the art of cooking a good burger has been lost. Now, I know that the younger generation may not agree but don't knock it until you have eaten one that has been made this way.

I had many a hamburger, fries, Coke and then slice of lemon pie at Roy's! They had a great breakfast too. That was a long time ago when Rossville was a thriving city.
