Going in the AM where the Buck I saw Sunday has a very good rub line on a regular run well used trail. Now if the wind will not blow in three directions as it did Sunday.

Can not stop thinking of an old hunting buddy who was paralyzed from waist down. He was a great hunter and rode his specially rigged 4 wheeler all over the woods behind his house. He died about five years ago now. What Brought this up is our discussing Buck sign. James used to tickle me to death the way he said things "and everything". When deer pawed out places on the ground, he called that "Ruts". When deer rubbed the bark off trees with their antlers, he called that "Scrapes". Makes more sense to me if you think about it.

I hunt in hamilton county in the morning and have been seeing the youn and froggy bucks on the chase. I have seen a little more movement, but dont think that rut has fully kicked in yet

Got lucky and caught up with this stud Sunday morning.
Franklin county.

He wasn't really paying the does too much attention.

Well done boys, good looking deer.

I was out yesterday afternoon and saw a pile of deer on the move. As a couple of you have mentioned earlier, the younger Bucks are on the prowl but I dont think the rut has quite kicked off yet. I put out a little Tinks 69 last night to see if it would draw any attention. Had a little nubbin buck come in and he didnt know exactly what to do with it. He would smell it and run away, came back and licked it a couple times and then ran away again. Kind of funny to watch as this is obviously his first season. He didnt really know what it was. A little while later I hit the grunt call and had a small 8 point followed by a spike come right in. Now this was really cool as I hunt off the ground on this particular property. I brush myself and equipment in like a make shift ghillie suit. Anyways, this 8 point and spike walk within 5 yards of me and hit a lickin branch. I could here him breathing. He looked at me real close a few times but they just walked on by and never thought much about it. Ill need to reposition next time as that was too close and wouldnt be able to adjust for a shot that close. A little while later a few does came out and got wind of the Tinks 69, they did not like it and they started blowin. They were out in the field blowin and stompin for a few minutes before I stood up and spooked them out of there to get them to shut up.

So to sum all that up, I agree with you guys, not quite yet.

Cheers

went out behind the house this morning,over-slept got out there about 7:15,jumped one on the way to the tree stand, had a small spike come by about hour later, then saw a average size 4-6 pointer in a clearing by tree stand, bleated at it a couple times,he could of cared less,i might try it tonight,i think it will be awhile before it gets active out here behind the house in old fort..... emoScratch

I think the rut is here in Bradley county. Had a buck get by me this morning and couldnt get a shot. He had his nose to the ground, and winded the the trail I came in on. I was hunting on the ground and when I went to raise my gun, he took off. He went about 100 yards and I started hitting the grunt call. He came back to about 75 yards but it was too thick and couldnt get a shot.

still slow in bradley co. hunted all week and only seen small bucks and wher i hunt i only shoot 120 or better and i know a bunch are there seen one big 7 point wends called him within 8ft of my blind and never spooked got it all on video the next full moon should really have em rutting good or if we could ever get good cold temps instead of turkey hunting weather they may speed up more

Im posting this out of pure excitement for the next 2 days. I went in yesterday to hang a new stand, a little late but oh well. As I was walking down a trail I saw a very large buck crossing my path. Didn't really look like he was trailing a doe but I didnt get to look at him but for only a quick second. Luckily he didnt see me or smell me, the wind was in my favor and the light rain was covering my noise. The deer were moving yesterday morning before the heavy rain, around 0830 is when I saw him and several others just walking and feeding.

Ill be in the tree stand for the next couple of days and hopefully right after this cold front it will get them moving.

Cheers

Nice work turkey killer, look forward to seeing the pictures.

I just got home from the woods. I went out this afternoon around 130. I had doe's all over me, at least 20 (I stopped counting) came by this afternoon and evening. Not a single buck though, but with that many doe's in the area there will soon be a buck in hot pursuit. Hopefully the morning will bring that bruiser within range.

Cheers

Looks like November 12th would have been a GREAT day in the stand. 2 trophy bucks crusing past in the same hour.
