Saturday Grey yacht with 6 foot wake

Chattanooga Fishing Forum

Help Support Chattanooga Fishing Forum:

Saw him Sunday, and he was slowing way down as he passed boats and marina's, maybe the word got back to him.

A group is speaking with TWRA Investigator Officer @ Island Cove Wednesday 7/20 @ 1730 where Jimmy Collins docks his 74ft Pershing. Wreaked havoc on 5 vessels tied together on Sunday...including my home of 13yrs...a 41 ft Gibson Yahct....On A Mission. Cleats were ripped off boats... rails all damaged...inside of boat looked like tornado went thru. Yes I understand he was in the Channel...but he must be made aware of how damaging his wake can be. Coast Guard stated if he's in the channel...there's nothing they can do?????????Truly sad one can't admire the bueaty of the vessel....knowing all the damage he's causing.

The boat owned the the TN Aquarium "River Gorge Explorer" had a lot of complaints early on and I believe that they altered the way it was being operated as a result.

Hopefully the pressure put on this boat and its owner will do the same.

He may not be violating the law (I don't know) but it sounds like he is causing serious damage and he needs to be made aware.

Can be held responsible for the damage he has caused?

It will be interesting to hear what comes of this meeting.

I don't see how anyone can go out on the lake after noon on weekends... It's getting to dangerous with the size of these boats and how inconsiderate they are..

I've been told the guy that owns this big grey boat is arrogant and in his opinion if your boat is smaller than his you shouldn't be on the water. He has no disregard for anyone of any age or gender. Just what I've heard from asking some people around that area that live on house boats. He's in the wrong body of water in my opinion I'd he doesn't care for small boats. The chick is a fishery. He needs to uproot and head south to the gulf or somewhere far from here.

You got his name, business and his boat numbers. Surely an attorney can press charges without any problem. Each individual person needs to press separate charges for boat damage, injuries and hell pain and suffering. Adventualy the TWRA or chattanooga will have to do something about it. The only money the city gets from him is from gas.

I have not had any experience with this boat yet. But he is a danger. If someone does die that opens TWRA up for a law suit for not taking care of the situation. This is there body of water that they control.

I heard that about the River Gorge & that's all I wish for. I speak only for Myself...I seek nothing from him except to know he's truly aware the damage his wake makes. Lot of people aren't aware of how their vessel affects others. I owned a red Bass Ranger for 6 yrs which led Me to live on My now Gibson of 13 yrs. I do admire the beauty of his vessel....I believe it looks great on the river...I believe it should be enjoyed....but with respect to others....so they too can enjoy.
Maybe all he needs is a True Captain take him out give him few educational pointers. I wish him no harm...ICU & PACU RN here...jus wishing no more harm to others by careless behavior.
I sure hope someone messages me if I ever cause any damage or harm to another...if I don't know I can't change.

From my understanding he knows. But if he knows the damage he is doing and continues to do it. It might be wrong but a log stump or something to disable the 4 million dollar yatch with no harm to the people aboard I would call karma is doing its job. The reason I say he knows he damaged a pontoon and Twra ran him down.

He's gonna continue to hurt people and thier boats until he meets and swamps the wrong person. It's just a matter of time until he meets someone on the water and a coupke rounds out of a side arm is not gonna look good on that boat. People like him are one of the many reasons I choose to fish daylight hours only in the week and the weekends are for nights. Just safer that way. And it's sad it has to be that way. But me in an 17'6 Lowe's flat bottom is no match for a 6ft wake.

I understand that. Would not doubt it happening. I meet his wake is a 16ft monark aluminum bass boat. With 3 people aboard. Turned toward the wave and put 2 people on back still had water come over the front.

That's crazy. Well if our beloved twra would actually patrol more or atleast do something to help put an end to this I mean he may not be breaking any laws but he's breaking people possessions and if enough people complain I dont see how they can continue to brush them off.
