I finally took the plunge and decided to get the Shimano Citica 100DSV from Phil at Pro Lures. It seems to be a very smooth reel, and I can't wait to put it through the paces on Saturday.

It's a 6.2:1 ratio, and I was surpised to see that it only has 4 bearings. I thought that it had taken the old Curado's spot in the line-up, and that it would have 5 like the old Curado's had. I hope that with it only having 4 bearings, that it will not have any problems.

I gotta give Phil a huge thumbs up for being so patient with me while I decided which reel I was going to take, and I will be back there to get more reels and rods in the future.

I may be wrong but I thought the old Curado's had 4 bearings and 1 roller bearing. You won't be disappointed with the Citica though.

Thats plenty of well placed bearings in such a small area in my opinion. Sometimes I wonder if 10 bearings is just a sales feature. You bought a great reel.

100% agree w/ you flip.... I've always thought the bearing count's over-rated.
