The catfish are heating up, and bait is running low. The skips are elusive this year for some reason. If anybody sees skipjack activity, please post a heads up here for us poor catters PLEASE! Watts Bar, Chick, Nick, or Guntersville dams are the places we are looking for. Thanks guys!

I was below the chick today, Looked like there was some skippys hitting the surface there. They had 2 generators going. I was tryin to put a dent in the spaaat population so I never hooked up with any but we though it was skipjacks.

I've been trying below the Chick but have hooked up with... approximately zero skipjack in about 2 weeks. I overheard EricM at the meet and greet say they'll be heating up in late July when they start pushing alot of water through to run all our air conditioners.

They have been few and far between below Riverpark for the past few weeks. Not like it was a month ago and larger schools seemed to frequent the area. I see them more out in main channel or fast water behind bridge pilings. Small swimbaits have been the ticket for Louie and I. Hybrids eat em. Bass eat em. Crappies eat em. Can't catch a smallie to save my life on 'em. White with a blue back dipped Dickey style.

"Spence", crappie do not eat skipjack. Skipjack are bigger than crappie.emoDoh </p>

Spur,
Thats not what I was saying at all. Eric mentioned that there wasn't a huge difference in flow from the dam down the day he went hence my suggestion if there is flow they will be there. The problem you will have is catching it with more flow then the steady 13000 we have been seeing lately. Oh and if you know where to go to catch a crappie that can eat a skippie let me know that would make some fantastic fillets!

Crappies will eat Threadfin and that's probably what Spence meant. If that's not what he meant, check your pant leg. It might be getting warm. emoBigsmile emoGeezer

I got a pm from one of the best skippy fishermen that I know. He said he spent 6 hours below Nickajack Sunday afternoon with the turbines running and only caught TWO! They are not there right now.

Cheez, you Brandon, and EricM are all wrong. Craig has told me if they are running water, you can catch all you want. emoPoke I am going with CRAIG!!!! emoDance

I'am heading down to guntersville tomarrow..had some reports of a few skippies starting to it the top...I'll let you know how it goes... emoAngler

I was all over them in may when I had flow. I had a trip or 2 without anything to show for it but they werent running current. I was basing it on my experience but I haven't been in a month :p and Brandon did you guys have the flow like you usually do?

we have been steady at 13 k all day every week day. With Browns Ferry Unit 1 coming back up, they need constant flow to meet EPA standards. So our evenings of 46k are far from now, unless we get major rain soon!

I thought NA was talking about his swimbait gettin ate by crappies.........I may be wrong though.

You were right mallardecho, my response was edited for a quick retorted insult - that was funny mind you - I was talking about what you could catch on a 2 1/2 inch swimbait down there. Skippies love 'em and so do everything else....
