Mike and I practiced a little Thursday. He was around Chattanooga, and I was out of MCP. Put in Saturday, go up or down ? Ran up a little ways to a spot that produced in the past, nobody played nice, couple of short strikes.. Ran to Chattanooga and started. Again short strikes, or mouthing the bait. Good looking hooks sets, few turns of the reel, then nothing. Worked downstream, finally get a fish, a gar on a Bagleys crankbait. Kept moving, and not landing fish. Stopped further downstream, and I get our first keeper on a football jig with a Big Bites trailer. Mike gets some spots, and three smalll ones in the box. Keep moving, hit and miss on fish. Finally run most of the way back, and hit another area that produced in the past. Caught our last keeper on the football jig, and ran out of time. Ended with 6.16, at least we were not skunked.
Water was muddy, and current kept increasing through out the day, also 62-67. Thursday I was fishing in 70 degree, slightly stained water. We threw chatterbaits, got many strikes, football jig, 1/2 oz.,crankbaits, jerk baits, topwater, t rig and Senko's
After slinging an ear on Mikes prop last year on Nick, the new prop is larger pitch, Mike gets more speed now. Can almost keep up with Leonard.
Congrats to Pete and Calder on their win. Thank you to the committee for another well run event. See everyone in May.
