So about all the floating catfish

I’m a bank angler and I frequent Chester Frost. I began noticing it last week a few dead catfish along the banks . Well as the week progressed I got a few extra trips in and they are everywhere. All sizes and even some carp just spotty and floating. I got to take a boat ride and everywhere we stopped we found them. I was just wondering if anyone has noticed the same and have any theories.

Yes, they are everywhere. I have seen them from the power plant to the the dam in all sizes. Someone told me yesterday there was a news report of some bacteria that was hitting just the catfish and they are still investigating. Doesn't appear to be affecting other fish.

Was on the lower end twice this weekend (Power Plant to Harrison Bluff) I probably saw 50 a day. I think the 300 estimate is low. They all look similar in size but the fact no birds or anything has eaten them was curious. They are all rotten now but wondered why nothing ate them earlier? Is that normal?

I was in Wolftever crappie fishing yesterday and saw quite a few catfish floating. What is going on? I personally don't have any use for catfish but sure hope whatever is going on doesn't affect the crappie or bass.
