I caught this gal last week at a pond I have been fishing since I was 5 and I flat out felt sorry for her. She was spawned out beyond spawned out. I have caught this fish before when she was a healthy 7+ lbs and this day she weighed in at a pitiful 2.5lbs. I'll look for the old pic of her and upload it later.

That fish looks like it's hooked on meth!

That pond is in serious trouble, I know I had the same problem on a lake I put in on the farm I use to own. You might not want to hear this but alot of fish that the big bass cannot eat need to be taken out of the pond. It would not hurt also to get a lot of crawfish and small bream into the pond. That is what I had to do to save the big bass I had in my pond.

There are some of the biggest bluegill I have ever seen in that pond, 1lb.+, so I guess I should keep a mess of them for starters?

Polk County.

Well there's your problem right there. Too much inbreeding! emoLaugh

Drop me a PM sometime if you ever need a hand in ridding some of those bream from the pond. I wouldn't bat an eye at taking my ultralight and some beetlespins after some boss pond bream. emoThumbsup

Long time 3yr. It might not even be the same fish now after I get to thinking about it. I know the pond doesn't hold many large fish like this one but it does have lots and lots of 1-2lb fish in it.

Heath...

You need a healthy balance of bluegill and bass. Go bream fishing and catch and REMOVE as many of the BIG bream as you can... Go have a nice super! There is a good article on the TWRA site about raising a pond.

Anything over six inches, all catfish, all crappie, and bass 9-13 inches, 2 and one half pound per month. I don't know if this is legal or not but if you could get to the lake and catch about one hundred bream about 2-3 inches that would be good. Those 1 plus pound bream need to come out for sure.
