5 days afterwards, and this all you can come up with. Weak very weak.
I have been patiently waiting the neo-cons/libertarians/anarchist/way right-wingers to actually provide some spirited debate on what was said.

It appears that this is now a joke forum, instead of political forum.

Since we have a joke for a president we might as well laugh about it.

I would not waste my time listening to olbummer's state of the union speech. Not worth debate in my opinion. He can't tell the truth if he has to.

Republicans are the joke, the 5 trillion dollar joke, with nothing to show for it but recession, and now for some reason seem to have all the answers. Lets here it. More tax cuts for rich maybe?

You can't blame Obama really. Some other group are pulling his strings. But along the way he has stepped on someones toes and made them mad. I don't care who you are you can't borrow and then use the same money to pay your self out of debt.
I listened to his speech and agreed with a couple of things. But he is only doing them now to try to save some Democrat seats in November. Oh don't you guys worry to much, there are going to be some republicans swapped out also. Its time we all started to tell our congress men that we want the country ran for all Americans not just a few.

I usually don't chime in on things like this, but I was truly apalled at the arrogance of our president when he even berated the Supreme Court for making a LEGAL decision, based on our laws and the Constitution. He may not have liked it, but their job does not involve making or changing laws, that duty is held by Congress, while changing the Constitution is in the hands of the States.
Someone needs to remind him that the executive branch is only one-third of our government, and that there is NO constitutional position called "GOD".....

So I guess you are for Roe v. Wade. It was a legal decision, so I guess it must be right.

I tried to watch it but you could get as much reality out of Greys Anatomy or Borat that you could from that silly speech. I detected a lot of "oh sh?t" we better save face here rhetoric in the short time I watched. I had to turn it off because I was tired of looking at that ignorant witch sitting behind the messiah. He couldn't say a full sentence without all his cronies jumping up and clapping about nothing. He kept bragging about all these bills the house passed. Big freaking deal. None of them will make it through the senate because they are sorry bills! And for those that keep saying how it was worse under Bush, GET REAL!! We had 7 out of eight years with economic expansion and job growth. Corporate america does not like this administration and they will not invest until this administration is weakened or gone. Obama is still saying the economy is troubled because the banks aren't lending. That's stupid. He just needs a scapegoat.

What kind of response is that? Totally off of the subject.

Right or wrong morally, ethically, or in your opinion, it has been found by the Supreme Court of these United States of America, to be lawful. If we do not like or want this, or any other law, I have pointed out by whom the laws and Constitution can be changed.

So what exactly was the point of your question - to try to belittle me for pointing out what I feel was completely inappropriate behavior for our president? To try to change the subject away from the State of the Union speech? (See the subject line of this thread). I posted only to illustrate a problem that I found in the President's behavior and attitude, and must say that I now find inappropriate in yours, especially as a teacher.

Are we still talking about the supreme court. I guess me being a teacher I should just bow down. I am not in the class room, but a member of this forum. So what is it you do for a living. My point is just because the Supreme court decides something does not make it right. You know I did not say nothing wrong. I asked a question. Honest debate.

Im just curious how much "power" he has to be weakened from, granted Im not the most intelligent man or am I very knowledgeable on politics but I thought Congress and Senate were there to hold the President in check (thus the checks and balances system) emoScratch

I just hope and pray for our country its not going to be a president Sentor or Congressman to pull us out of the situation we are in its going to take us as Americans uniting, from what I recall this is some of what the current president said from the beginning but where is the sense or quickness to unite together as Americans, my personal opinion it seems like its to hard to unite more easy just sit back and blame someone else, I could be totally wrong but thats just my thoughts

Good post oggism. In nearly every one of olbummer's campaign speeches he promised unity in our country. He promised to reach across the aisle which is another term for compromise. He has done neither of these. The only way I see him uniting everybody is if everybody that has different ideals than olbummer will cave in and move to his side. That is not going to happen. There will be a few traitors that can be bought off but the majority of the right will not abandon their ideals just to make a lying socialist president look good. JMHO

Cheez, you speak of compromise, but what have the Republicans offered, nothing but stomping of the feet and saying this and that won't work. Yet they have failed to offer anything to meet in the middle. Remember that compromise you talk about is a two way street.

You are quite right that compromise is a two way street. Problem is that the Republicans are not in charge. The Republicans can't even slow any process down. They did not promise compromise and unity as your messiah did.

Lets see....he promised a
"New era of politics"
"No more Business as usual"
"For far too long, interests, that did not have the best interests of our country have held power over our Government"
"There will be a new transparent government"
"The government will be accountable" Which really is my favorite, because I guess Bush 43 is "The Government, as this administration blames him for everything.

The list of lies, half-truths and BS could go on forever. (since he gave more speeches than anyone in history)

The bottom line is the people that voted for him are already so sickened by what he has done in this country, (Insert Beetle-juice here) they ARE revolting. Claims can be made that the election in MA was not really a referendum on Obama, IT WAS. Mass had been so unabashedly pro-liberal that they continued to seat that scumbag of a Senator Uncle Teddy, yet they stopped and said "No more" to Obama two weeks ago. This is after just one single year in office? Yall are right on one thing, he aint no Bush, his popularity has tanked from the stratosphere faster and further than any politician in history, quite honestly making Bush 43 look.....pretty good in comparison wouldn't you say?

The public opinion polls (Gallup) of President Obama almost match exactly those of the beloved Ronald Reagan during his first year in office. Make no mistake here....... People are pissed because the economy didn't turn around in 6-9 months. It does not matter if it had been President Obama or a President McCain in the White House....People get pissed at whomever is in charge. If and when the economy does turn... He (Obama) will be once again popular. Some of you that despise him so much need to start praying for those 20 million or so un-employed Americans to remain un-employed til the 2012 election. I expected more people to realize and understand that the economy could not be turned around so quickly, but I also understand it's very hard to be patient if you can't find a job. The President never told anyone in his countless speeches that he could fix this mess in a years time, and has said many times that if he cannot get the economy on the right track then he fully expects to be a one term President. I'm certainly more confident in the abilities and policies of this President than ANYTHING the other side has to offer us. btw Republicans don't fare any better than Democrats in public opinion polls.

"Beloved Ronald Reagan" Thats funny right there. He was lambasted as being too arrogant in his dealings with tyrannical regimes, i.e. Russia, He was too old, out of touch, too stupid, he was "just an actor" the list goes on.
Aside from the too old part, its the same criticisms that folks threw and still throw at Bush. Write this down and put it in your wallet, and in 20 years pull it back out and you will say Spur was right. Bush will look like a hero for his stand against radicals, terrorists, and the liberal detractors on the economy and many other things. The comparisons are eerily similar.
