The trolling motor on my new boat is on the starboard side. I always wondered if i would like it better on that side since im righty and now ill get to see. Heres my dilemma with this, i put the trolling motor from my old boat on there and that one was on the port side. Well now the steering is all wierd. Its like the steering is now set up that back is forward. What i mean is, in order to go forward the pedal has to be either all the way up or down and when the pedal is level the arrow points back. Is there and easy fix to this?

Ao what it sounds like is trolling motors are generally designed to be on the left side so that with the head slightly angled for storage you can drop it and be straight on the pedal to go forward.
When you swapped sides you changed the angle of the head for storage this means that when its in the water going foward requires actually turning the motor from straight? Thats my though at 10pm at night haha hope you can follow it.
If you can adjust where the cable hits the turning point on the troller pedal I would think you could alter to where you want it.
DJ probably has run into this hope he see's this

Sounds like you pos and neg wires are reversed. Most DC motors will run forward or backwards when leads are reversed. I think your controls just swap leads internally to reverse a DC motor.

It goes in the direction the arrow points, my problem is the turning is now set to go from forward to forward instead of backwards to backwards. Meaning when it was on the left side when the pedal was level i would be going forward, but now that its on the right when the pedal is level i go backwards. Adjusting the head to fix this would have the cable bowed outside the boat instead of over the pedal. Im just wondering if there is an easy fix or am i going to have to drill more holes and switch it over? And while im at it, where can i buy a sheet of rubber non slip matrial so i can cut it and put it on my bow

You have to adjust the pedal position from inside the head.
1. Remove top cover
2. There is a screw just under where the trolling motor cable goes into the foot pedal; loosen this screw but do not remove. Then position the pedal in the level position.
3. There is a cylinder inside the head that the steering cable wraps around. Pull this cylinder off the gear while keeping tension on the cable around the cylinder.
4. With the other hand turn the trolling motor shaft where the foot is pointing forward.
5. Replace the cylinder back on the gear and re tighten the screw at the foot pedal
6. Remove the direction indicator from the head and replace the head.
7. Snap the direction indicator back in heading toward the front.

Your trolling motor should now bi in the proper position coordinated with the foot pedal.
