I suspect that Tennessee wouldprefer to play Austin Peay again. After this afternoon it would be a wise choice to invest in ibuprofen, as it will in high demand by the Tennessee players. I would be suprised if Mariota does not have at least 5 TD's through the air and Oregon can't score 40 or more.emoPoke

Tennessee started out up by 7. But it is half time now and Oregon is up by 31 points at 38-7.

Being a big TN fan, I do t recall any of my friends or other fans predicting a TN victory. They were a 28 point dog in this game. The outcome is not surprising. TN's program has been down for At least 6-7 years now. Hopefully Coach Jones can right the ship in the next 3-4 years. There aren't too many teams,if any, that will be able to stop Oregon this year.

All I have been hearing from Tennessee fans is how well things are looking up for the vols. Beating such great teams as Austin Peay and W. Kentucky. Welcome to the real world. 59 to 14 and Oregon took the first teams out mid third quarter or it would have been much worse. Hopefully they(the vols) will do much better in SEC play...

Carl I didn't know you were a Ducks fan. I do think things are looking up for the Vols. Never heard anything about Austin or W.Kentucky being great teams... lol... I guess we just don't all talk to the same people.... haha... or I guess you could just be jokeing around. Either way you got a real funny going here.

Actually, I am a big Ducks fan. I was born in Grants Pass, Oregon and feel a strong pull towards the state!

Im also a TN fan. I honestly didnt expect much out of this game. I figured that Oregan would run away with this one before the game ever started. But i do think that Jones has the team headed in the right direction, but it will probably take a few yrs before the team is top contender again. Every team has its ups & downs. TNs has down has just been going a lot longer than id hoped. But its hard to get good, talented recruits when you have a new coach every year. Hopefully Jones will turn out to be the coach who will stick with them and get the team turned around, but i guess only time will tell.

The Ducks have a terrific team, maybe the best offense in the country, and they should go undefeated. They always seem to lose one at the end of the year. Maybe this year will be different. I like the Ducks fans I met when they were in Knoxville a couple years ago.

Today's game highlighted how far we have to go to compete against top teams. I'm proud of the progress I'm seeing, and if we can continue to get #1 recruiting classes we will be there very soon. Everyone that meets Butch Jones seems to like him including the paper and TV media, and especially young college recruits. #VFL #GBO

I'm with all the other Vols fans when they say we are headed in the right direction. My only problem with Coach Jones is some of his offensive play calling. If your best offensive aspect is running the ball down hill to the right side of the O-line, why does he keep trying to feature our QB when he obviously needs to be a game manager rather than what we rely one. I realize when you're down by so much you have to throw it, but I'm speaking more to the first and second quarters when the game was still in reach. UT kept trying to run sweeps and get to the edge against a defense that's way faster. With a bigger O-line than Oregon's D-line we should have ran it down their throats tiring them out and giving our defense as much rest as possible. I understand coach Jones ran his offense, but he needs his players to run his offense and he doesn't have them yet. I would like to see him adapt a little more to what he has on hand.

I'm with Carle here. I've listened to ESPN radio all week and there were some psycho TN fans calling in. They were not just optimistic but UNreallistic! The majority of the call ins actually thought the Vols would pull off the upset! Funny stuff there. And yes the Vols had a great recruiting year and it will take another year or two to see any results from that class. I hope they give coach Jones that much time.

Not sure if those fans actually follow football, but those were not games to find out where you are as a team. Tennessee had the WORST defense in SEC history last year. Impossible to make that big of an improvement in 1 year. They are still the same defense, with several true freshman starters now. Offensively, they are gonna have to improve QB play, Worley looks very, very nervous in there The Oregon game only lets me know that we are still along way away, I have said that if we could win 6 games this year, it would be a great year. If we were able to win 7 it would be a huge surprise. The team still has several injuries, and is VERY-VERY young. Even after these 3 games, you cannot tell how Tennessee will finish for the year. I'ts ok to pull for your team and hope for an upset, but this game was a reality check for those fans who think we are back. Its always fun to sit back and watch a rival get pounded, and make fun of fans when their team is down, but this happens to every program. I enjoyed the late 90s and early 2000's myself, but that is the past. Tennessee is still SEVERAL years away from being able to compete for the SEC East, anyone expecting more should take off the Orange colored glasses. I love TENNESSEE and will continue to attend, watch, and pull for them. I just know its gonna be another long year, and I am looking forward to the future and what Butch Jones and the coaching staff can do.

Less than average Qb, Freshman receivers, Average RB's, lost conerbacks, slow LB'S, want fair to well against upper tier D1 schools and there is not a Coach living that can change that. I expected about what we got yesterday and it's going to take a while...I'm willing to wait! What I do like so far about Tenn. NO THROAT SLASHING or look at me attitude that eventually will destroy a football program. A team full of 4 and 5 stars can make any coach look good. It don't take rocket science to know you can't win the Kentucky derby with a mule. Eventually the worm will turn just hope I live long enough to see it.

This was no surprise to anyone that actually follows tennessee football. It's just hard to compete with a team that is as faster than you at very position. They are very very good and could ring up 50 points on anyone in the country including Alabama.

After Saturdays game you might be right! Another year or two the Vols will be good again.
