Well Tn is trying to run an inside zone option type offense. The QB has the option to either give the football or keep it. He makes this decision based one whether the Defensive end squeezes the tackle who is suppose go to block backer, leaving the Defensive end unblocked. If the D-end squeezes, the QB is suppose to pull the ball and run. TN Qb is not doing that so the only run threat is the one back in the back field. Well when watching film it does not take long for the opposing team to pick up on that. When I was at Soddy 4 years ago we did the same thing because we were protecting our QB. Once the playoffs was out of the picture the QB started pulling the ball and we dominated the last 3 games. I have studied what butch did at Cincy and he has yet to open up the offense. I could only speculate to the reason why. I have been running the option for 15 years and unless the QB is heavily involved in the running game it will not be effective. I have watched the QB at Tn give the ball too many time and carry out his fake and no one on QB except green grass in front of him. I don't know if Butch is saving it for SEC games or what, I could only speculate. I do know this Worley at QB will not work in this scheme if things don't change. It will take Jones several years to recruit and develop players to fit his scheme. Worley also is horrible at selling out the fake. Many times de will give the ball decelerate and watch the play, all option no no's. As a TN fan I still have hope.
