Well Tn is trying to run an inside zone option type offense. The QB has the option to either give the football or keep it. He makes this decision based one whether the Defensive end squeezes the tackle who is suppose go to block backer, leaving the Defensive end unblocked. If the D-end squeezes, the QB is suppose to pull the ball and run. TN Qb is not doing that so the only run threat is the one back in the back field. Well when watching film it does not take long for the opposing team to pick up on that. When I was at Soddy 4 years ago we did the same thing because we were protecting our QB. Once the playoffs was out of the picture the QB started pulling the ball and we dominated the last 3 games. I have studied what butch did at Cincy and he has yet to open up the offense. I could only speculate to the reason why. I have been running the option for 15 years and unless the QB is heavily involved in the running game it will not be effective. I have watched the QB at Tn give the ball too many time and carry out his fake and no one on QB except green grass in front of him. I don't know if Butch is saving it for SEC games or what, I could only speculate. I do know this Worley at QB will not work in this scheme if things don't change. It will take Jones several years to recruit and develop players to fit his scheme. Worley also is horrible at selling out the fake. Many times de will give the ball decelerate and watch the play, all option no no's. As a TN fan I still have hope.

This was no surprise to anyone that actually follows tennessee football. It's just hard to compete with a team that is as faster than you at very position. They are very very good and could ring up 50 points on anyone in the country including Alabama.

AGREE!

But Bama would score 51...........................

Oregon has a great team. It would take an football idiot to think TN was going to beat the crap out of them this year. TN has a long way to go but we are headed in the right direction. It will take at least a couple of years for us to consistently compete with top 10 teams. I do think we can end the year 6-6 or 7-5 with some luck. I can understand Duck fans getting fired up about beating a struggling SEC team. The Ducks don't usually fair so well against SEC teams. I know I'm old but I can't remember. What year was it the DUCK's won a National Championship? Like I said they have great team. Their schedule should let them finish undefeated and I hope they get to play a BCS game against a upper tier SEC team.

UT is moving in the right direction. ALOT less penalties. They look a lot more conditioned and discipline. Combine those 2 factors with talent and you will win some games. The talent on this team was brought in to fit Dooley's scheme. Jones is in the process of bringing everyone into his offense so it is new to most of them. Wrong QB for the offensive scheme is the biggest problem in my opinion. I believe he deserves his chance and I'm sure he has worked extremely hard to be named the starter, but this offense will struggle as long as he is in at QB. The advantage I see to Worley staying at QB is that it gives to other 2 a chance to study his mistakes and hopefully learn from them. UT will win 6 this year and make the music city bowl at best. Next year they will win 7. But in 2015 I have high hopes. Most starters should be his recruits that fit his system and I really like the brick by brick motto. That is the only way to build anything.

What an embarrassment for the SEC. The Ducks could have hung 80 on them. 3 and 4 Star athletes can't do better than that? I thought TN would be competitive and could keep the loss in the teens. The Vols looked like a division 2 team, getting their butt whoopin check.

Tennessee might get it's act together and at least remain even with the open dates, but it will be close. As it looks now S. Alabama and Kentucky are at least in the Austin Peay rankings. The rest of the schedule does not look good for the Vols. Their only SEC win might be Kentucky.emoDoh

Well said, Oregon is ranked number two it was no big surprise for the loss.

I am not surprised by the negativity on here. That is why we are in this mess in the first place. Sometimes you get what you ask for. As for Fulmer, a victim of his own success. You simply do not forget how to do you job. How would you guys like it if someone comes in and tells you how sorry you are after making your company rich, and says you just don't have it anymore after the market has changed. This is the state TN football is in. By the way Alabama will kick but against the ducks.

emoCrazy And people make fun of Bama fans when they bring up the past and Bear Bryant?????? You're a stat master non the less! emoScratch Now whats the prediction for the Vols' game this weekend? Can they beat the Gators and shake this Oregon game off?

I think Butch Jones will have a good team in the future. He is working from the ground up and trying to lay a foundation both mentally and physically to achieve success. A work in progress. Just be patient.

Nah no Stat master here but been around the game long enough to know everything changes. It's been pretty easy being a Bama fan the last few years and probabaly will continue to be for a while. College fans are sort of like Locust they come out of their hole every few years to run their mouths. As far as your little pic above goes your right I'm pretty crazy...... My pick for next week is easy one we will get beat by probably 3 scores to a not so good Florida team but I was born in Tenn. so I sort of feel like it's my duty to pull for my home Stste unlike a lot of people I know, like I said it's easy to be a Bama fan.

I don't see Florida beating the Vols by 3 scores. Unless they fixed the red zone issues I think TN defense can keep it close. Who knows this could be real close.

... hey peck, just a few short years back it wasn't all that easy to be a Bama fan. The shoe was on the other {Tennessee} foot then. Every school out there has there has a share of Fare Weather Fans. It all seems to cycle around.

I'm 33 years old. I don't remember Bear Bryant or the old glory days of Alabama football. I always liked them as a kid and really got into football at 9-10 years old. I saw them beat a favored Miami team in '92 and win a national championship after escaping the SEC championship against Florida. After that it wasn't always easy wearing Bama hats and shirts but I did. They had a SEC championship in the late 90s but it got pretty bad a few years there. Yes I love the fact that Saban has them on track and it is great to be a Bama fan these days. However I will never be a "fair weather" fan. All good things must come to an end and if they do I'll still be a Tide fan to the core.
