Chattanooga Fishing Forum

Help Support Chattanooga Fishing Forum:

I have to agree and know it will make people made but I do not agree with this fourm. I can ignore it and will after this post. I am logging off to never be back. I understand politics and a very concerned with the state of our country but this is not the place for it and not why I come to this site. I am a believe in agreeing to disagree but I thougt this was for sportsman to talk about the outdoors. To me this fourm and as far as that goes fishing was my way to escape the politics of the world. I used to spend my lunch reading here but no more.

Good Luck and if you see me on the water and want to talk about fishing come on over.

This topic doesn't affect whether I would or would not fish with anyone that post on it nor cause me to loose respect for them. No matter how much we may disagree on a subject, I have the utmost respect for your right to form and have your own views. You could very well find yourself without any friends if you cannot accept that they may not agree with you on everything. Sooner or later you are going to come across a topic that you disagree on.Good friends have mutual respect for those differences.

The closest friends to me are the ones I can openly disagree with and still go out and have a great day on the water with.

As much as I've wished at times that we could go back to the days of DHaun, no advertisement, and more fishing content, I've accepted the fact that those days are gone. It is still CFF, we can all still communicate, buy, sell, meet, fish, and keep up with local fishing events. The Politics/Religion topic is there now and I have to accept that too or leave and lose contact with members that are still doing good things for our fishing experience and community. The good outweighs the bad.

You are absolutely right Doc. I think one of the reasons we are in this mess is that we as Americans have too easily believed what politicians have been spoon feeding us. The media has been in on it too. This goes for both sides of the aisle. I think finally people are waking up and realising that the little circle they fill in on election day really does matter. Many people go to the voting booth knowing very little about the people they are voting on, they just vote along party lines all the way down, I have been guilty of it too. Hopefully next year that will be different and we can get some real CHANGE.

I think that having this forum is the perfect way to show that people do feel strongly about what's going on. Like it or not, it is a huge part of our daily lives, why try to hide it for fear that we may offend a fishing buddy who sees differently? Everyone has an opinion and is entitled to voice it. I for one do not hold someones' political position against them (unless they have no idea why they are for one thing or another).

I think there have been some great discussions here and I don't think too many people's feeling have been hurt. The only way to develop a deep and lasting relationship with someone is to know what they are passionate about. This goes for family, work, fishing, hunting, and yes, politics and religion.

This forum brings out the fact that other sportsman's forums do. Fishermen and hunters are overwhelmingly conservative in their thinking.

I wonder if the ones that want this forum gone would feel the same way if the overwhelming majority of participants were liberal? It is doubtful to me.

Just because someone has a different political view than I do does not make me hate them and not want to associate with them. I would cook up a mess of BBQ and fish for anyone with no ill feelings toward them at all.

If a person is not big enough to look past another's political views then that person is the one with the problem. JMHO

Cheez, you missing my whole point.
I don't think it ever was a secret that most fishermen are conservatives.

I would much rather my children read what is on here than to have their minds poisoned by the garbage that is being taught to them in public schools today. Call it hate if you want but I do not want my children growing up to think it is normal to be a homo. I do not want my children growing up to believe that it is ok for them to destroy a human life that is growing inside of them. I do not want my children growing up thinking that the government is the answer to all of their problems.

Channing I did not miss your point at all. You say that this forum brings out the worst in people. Well I for one am no different than I have ever been. I see our country going to hell at a rapid rate and I am speaking out against what I believe the causes for this are. If you think less of me for believing the way that I do then that is by all means your right. I will think no less of any person because of their political beliefs. I will however speak out when I see something that I do not agree with. I may not ever change anybody's mind but I will plant the seed that someday may sprout and save them. It still does not change how I feel about them as a person.

Bon Voyage!!! You are the one that clicked on the Political/Religous forum.

My point is, why even have a "Politcal/Religous" forum? All it's going to do is piss people off and cause drama. The Chattanooga fishing forum is not a place to come a see pics of Obama in a Nazi uniform...haha...by the way, saying Obama is a Natzi islike saying Cheez is a Democrat. Some of the language used in this forum offends me more than most curse words, and I don't see why kids who are coming here hoping to learn how to throw a baitcaster should have the option to come here and read this BS. Not matter what you believe politicaly all this forum is is BS. Just another way to keep us devided so we will never form a majority again. I'm not pissed cause most of you are slamming Obama. I could care less. I'll slam him too. I'm pissed cause one of my favorite things to do is come to the fishing forum and keep up with everybody. When I seen this forum pop up for the first time I thought "well hell, now it's all going to go to **EDITED FOR PROFANITY*"

Dude, i agree with you. You have the right so say and believe whatever you want. However this forum is not the place to do it. period! The people on this forum are not trying to make your children homos.
If you want to make a change, get off the computer and run for an office.

Doc1 - 8/27/2009 12:23 PM

I can just see children reading these posts and they do read them, they believe everything that they read. Little Joey or little Mary reading this and their little minds soaking it up, they are not taught this in schools or at sunday school, they go to momma or daddy and have a puzzled look on their faces, they say that this is not what our teacher says but they will believe it because daddy or whomever said so. They are taught to love everyone but then they read what is on here. Keep poisening their minds with your hate and as the bible says "You reap what you sow".

Jim Jones and Charles Manson believed in what they were doing too, they were right and everyone else was wrong in their minds. I still cannot believe 800 people chose to drink poisoned kool aid just because someone told them to but it happened

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE CHILDREN...Don't teach them the truth...instead teach them of peace, love and toleration, regardless if its right or wrong...You are right, you do reap what you so. The Bible also says to avoid the false instruction of Children.

Dude I was not saying the people on this forum were trying to make my kids homos. I was responding to another poster who said this forum was poisoning kids minds. I simply pointed out that the public school system is what is poisoning kids minds far worse.
This forum IS the place to discuss politics and religion. That is what the title block says. PERIOD!

Channing, if you are worried about kids seeing stuff, why would you write what you did in the last sentence?

If y'all want to know if I'm catching fish you'll have to come ask me in person. Heres where I'll be http://www.myspace.com/channingwilson When y'all get your heads out of you **EDITED FOR PROFANITY**let me know I might come back... Peace!

Great post Wayne

wait wait wait... you guys are right. everyone has the right to voice their opinion and I'm glad there is a place to do it. The only thing that gets me is that when I click on the home tab to see the new posts on fishing...most if not all of the posts are related to politics. You are correct..I don't have to go into that section of the forum to read politics if I dont choose to..but when its all over the home tab, I have to file my way through pages to find the fishing information I signed up to read and be a part of.

My suggestion would be that each user can select which forums will be updated in their home page. That way I can sign on and see all the new posts related to fishing or boating. Then if I want to hear people bang heads on "who's right who's wrong" I can go into that forum.
Likewise if you want to have the updates on political forums, they will pop up in your home tab.
This way everyone wins! Those who want to just read about fishing can have that specific information set in front of them, and likewise if you want to expand your conversations you can have those topics set in front of you as well.

I came here to fish and join others in the love of the sport. If we could all agree to disagree and be civil about a discussion it wouldn't be so bad. But when the conversation tears us fishermen apart, I think that crosses over the boundaries in which this website was designed for. There shouldn't be segregating of republicans and democrats when we share the common love of fishing. Thats why we all come together to make this website possible in the first place...right??

First Light has something in the works on that. I agree...there can be a place for it here but dosent have to crowd the home page.I set my page to go to the main baords..not the home page.Great Suggestion!

Billy,

I didn't direct that at you but now that I think of it, I've never given a rats about who's the head CFFer or how crap gets craped on here and I have a lot of friends because of this site. But, when I think of this site I dont automatically think " Billys Site" or "Brandon's Site" its the fishing forum! Maybe thats my mistake, I appreciate the work thats done behind the scences, but could care less who's doing what. Because its just a forum, and I have a paying job I have to show up at in the morning.

Just like anything else...the more folks you gather 'round the more opportunity for "entropy" and conflict. Given some of the pasts posts on here, I think giving arguers a place to talk about these topics on a FISHING forum is dumb. But, I never meant to direct any negativity toward you, Brandon or any other admin, moderator, etc...

When David left, we started getting a bunch of grouchy dudes on here that dont ever fish and argue all the time ( That's what I meant by my original post). I say to you all: go out and enjoy a great day of fishing and relax! Life's too short!

BTW-I bet if you google "Fox news" or "CNN" their sites will feature tons of talk forums where you can do this all day.

Thank You Justin and as a friend I may have jumped that gun a bit. Yea, the hard work behind it all sometimes does that. I hope I didnt offend you.

Your right too about some members...get this monkey off my back...There are those that just complain and start crap all the time. If you think it was bad on the main boards...you should have seen the Pms I got! Unreal!

I still say there's fun here at CFF and I'm a firm believer that we can keep that end of it. I feel better in the mix of folks now..picking on my buds and having some fun with them. Thats the way things used to be. :)

I'll say it again...I'm no where near perfect and if I took it wrong, my apologies to you.
