With the tx season getting underway it's a good time to clean the livewells out. Avoid using any cleaning solvents or "soap" based cleaners. Add some clorox to the livewell then rinse thoroughly, being careful not to get any on the interior of your boat.
I read an interesting article about "stress" relief products for maintaining fish health while they are in the livewell. The article pointed out that while some of the ingredients may help the fish, not all ingredients have been approved for human consumption. I assume that if I keep a fish in my livewell for a few hours, when and if I catch one emoBigsmile , and release it, and someone catches it the next day and has it for supper, it MAY still have ingredients in it that haven't been approved for human consumption. The article did not name brands or the ingredients and was found on the net by doing a search for "keeping bass alive in livewells". Just to play safe I'm going to use non-iodine salt for awhile. 1/3 cup to 5 gallons of water. Pre-measured in baggies.
