I know the original purchase was just Ranger, Stratos, and Champion. All were going to be moved to Flippin and the Champion line was going to be discontinued. I was sad at that, because Champion was a good competitor and pushed them all to be better. With the inclusion of the biggest four letter word in bass fishing and the daddy of Stratos I look for the entire group to be a big jumble. Phoenix, Allison, and Norriscraftarelooking better and better.

Champion isnt discontinued. they are just being built under the stratos name.
Here is an article from Ranger on it. http://www.stratosboats.com/article.cfm?storyid=18

But I do agree, the individually owned brands are looking better everyday. The Ranger factory will be trying to push out 4 brands of boats from the same factory. Triton, stratos, champion, and Ranger.

No more than they are building, things will be fine. Its a move to lower cost in labor and production. Not quality. The marine industry is building andputting out 60-70 percent less than they did 5 years ago.

I don't agree BBASS. All four boats coming from the same plant is not a good thing. I guess if you want a Tri-ger or a Ran-tos it will be okay, but seperation is what made these boats different. The subtle nuances is what makes a boat suit your personality.

You dont have to agree Carl. Just stating what I see in the industry Ive been a part of for nearly 18 years. If they manage to hold to to quailty, you will see prices drop. We need that right now. Rangers biggest competitor in thier market field is the Nitro.

Brunswick sold the Triton line so they can merge thier products better and stay in the market. Platinum is doing the same. I think its a smart move and these lines will not suffer. If I eat those words one day...so be it. ;) But to get the market flowing again...this is a must!

I agree with you Carl and I am really happy I bought my Ranger pre-Triton.

What makes these brands valuable is their difference. Believe me Platinum wants to maintain and build on these brands so when demand picks up and the time comes to sell off a brand that a profit can be made. Look for the major promotion vessels for these boats to converge aswell.

What makes these brands valuable is owner loyalty, because the owner's thought that they were buying a better craft. If they come out of the same plant the only thing different will be the stickers. The only thing that matters to Platinum Equity is return on the dollar, not your pocket book.

There is a reason that Nitro is challenging Ranger for top billing, it is called KVD.

The recipes are not changing. Just getting a better kitchen and more experienced cooks. Loyalty is based on difference. Different look, finish, fishability, motor options etc but last and not least...Price.

I have read every thing I can get my hands on concerning this purchase. I have read nothing about the designers and engineers moving, just Earl. So yes, the recipe is changing. All of the parts used to come from different sources, most of them local to the plants were that product was built. All of the parts will now come from the same source, which means the same boat and yeah, the recipe has changed.

emoBigsmile Carl..the sky is blue today with clouds in it. ;) But thats just my observation of looking right at it.emoBigsmile
