Put in PC at 0730 with only three other trucks there…about 6 or 7 when I left at noon. Fishing traffic was heavy with out of state folks in for a tournament. Best fishing was in the creeks or they just quit biting later in the morning when I got to the channel. I was surprised at the lack of surface activity and bite in the channel compared to creeks. There was no current to speak of in the channel. Water temp was 71F and wind was light. Cloudy with some darker clouds by noon. My best was right at 9lbs and one just under four. The pattern is all over the place. Caught fish on swimbait, plastics and jerk bait. No takers on crank bait and had very few nibbles on plastic but did catch some. They are chasing bait fish in some areas but it comes and goes in seconds. The big one was full of eggs which is the FIRST spawning fish I’ve caught this year. Two painted up tournament folks came right up to me but they were very respectful and asked if they could fish in the same area. I appreciate their respect and told them so after letting them join. I wish all would that respectful. Good luck to all.
