Orlando Wilson. After reading about everyones favorite fishing show, I started thinking about the ones that used to come on The Nashville Network (TNN). Does anyone know what happened with Orlando? Also how many has had the chance to meet their fav. pro and been totally let down by the way they were in person or how nice they really turned out to be? For me Timmy Horton and Jay Yelas two of the nicest. Roland Martin not so much.

Used to be some big tournaments around here and one of the kindest guys I met (and he was really big then) was Tom Mann.

That was a good one

Roberto! I was down at Loet Villa (now Island Cove) years ago & meet Tom Mann & Rick Clunn. Both stood around & talked with my buddy & me for ever picking our brains for what we caught fish on & stuff & Tom Mann even gave us some worms & things. Meet Roland Martin @ The Chick. Marina for the weigh-ins & we won't discuss him. Tom & Rick were top notch though.

I have been lucky enough to meet some and fish with some of the several big tourney guys. Woo Daves, David Fritts, Andy Morgan, and Steve Daniels are great guys. Rick Clunn however is a big time jerk. I heard that Orlando Wilson came into $$ trouble. His show was one of my favorites...especially the episode he did on the Chick a few years ago. I have pulled many fish off that point by Harrison Bay were he filmed.

Met David Fritz on Minnetonka outside Minneapolis at an after party/dinner/fundraiser. I was the only other guy in the room from NC, so we hit it off. He was quiet but really was nice and down to earth. He has mastered crankin' right where skiiers are on grass clumps in main lake areas during the summer. Changed my fishing life up there. Met Bill Dance as a kid. My Dad and I came into a cove as he was filming a show. He pulled up and talked with us for a few minutes and later at the marina had a hotdog where we were. Really treated my Dad and I like we were special. We were there on vacation and there weren't many people around. He likes fishermen who are regular guys... at least that's my memory. I was young.

Orlando Wilson is invovled in commercial real estate now.
He was involved the land deal for the Cabela's that was supposed to be built in Adairsville. That deal has since fallen through.
I think Orlando lives somewhere in the Cartersville/Adairsville area. Or at least that's what I've heard.

I remember his show being on TBS when I was a kid. I can still sing the theme song. I used to love that show.

Several years back, Orlando Wilson was at a boat show in Dalton, at the trade center. My parents took me to get his autograph, as I used to watch his show. I didn't realize that there was a set time to get his autograph, so instead, I just walked up to him and asked for it. He was eating a hotdog. He put it down, said sure, signed the piece of paper I had, and talked to us for a while. Super nice fella. Wish that he would come back onto TV with his fishing show.

I met an old pro that used to do well on the tour named Danny Correia either last year or the year before. I saw him at work and talked with him about fishing and he came back the next day and left me a tacklebox with a bunch of hardbaits. He is a quality guy, that's for sure. I think that he was just visiting or passing through.

I've got a VHS copy of one of his shows I taped years ago when I lived down near Ft. Lauderdale. Orlando was fishing with Gary Rossington of Lynyrd Skynyrd and it was great! Gary told some neat stories about the band and they were wearing 'em out throwing Rat L Traps. Well, Gary catches a good one and asks Orlando for his pliers and during the excitement, Gary throws the pliers into the lake instead of the fish! It is hilarious! Of course the rest of the show, Orlando gives him a hard time about the pliers. It's a classic. I also used to like some of the Jerry McKinnis "Fishing Hole" shows.
