James, ran my boat Saturday. After having the lift added to my prop, my boat now runs 65 mph at 5300 rpms. 5300 is about my max rpms now, which is fine for now. My main concern is that it chine walks pretty badly. Anything you know of that can be done to stop the chine walk without losing anymore speed?
Most of the time raising the engine will reduce the chine as reducing the amount of the lower unit that is in the water to cause disturbance will generally reduce chine walking. Just my experiences.
Hey, Wrenchin. Having another problem with my evinrude. Was on the Chick the other day, running down the lake. All of a sudden the check engine light and alarm comes on. I start slowing down and come to an idle. It sounded a little funny for a second then died. hit the key and it fires but immediatly dies. I can hold the hot foot down and start it and it will start and run fine with no miss or anything, but let off the gas and it immediately dies. Any ideas on what it might be?
