Re: Carl Gufey's Modified 2.5 200

James: block is built/assembled...Reed cages built and ready for assembly/install (LOVE the paper idea in the reed cages, BTW..) Injectors are back from Brucato and have to perform the mods to the tuner/mid-section...Hope to be done by Sunday (If I can get out of Nash-vegas by tomorrow)...Hope to have the quote on the trim cylinders O-rings stuff back by tomorrow afternoon

Re: Carl Gufey's Modified 2.5 200

SHHHHHHHHH!!! Don't let that secrete out!!!LOL!!!! Bet ya can't wait to get it going!!!

I finished up the OMC 60* tonight. Nothing like running down the lake when it is dark and raining!!!! Left the ramp at 9:30. Haven't been home long. It was strong out of the hole. A little rough idle but that is expected with the idle reliefs plugged. Davo is happy.

Re: Carl Gufey's Modified 2.5 200

1390! They 150 push it ok then. Just wait untill you push the throttle on this one!!!!

Re: Carl Gufey's Modified 2.5 200

I will give you a shout sometime this weekend and let you know my progress...anxious to hear it run!!!!

Re: Carl Gufey's Modified 2.5 200

matt,
did you take you VST tank apart and clean? There is filter where the line bolts to the regulator. Need to move and blow out. The VST tank was FULL of metal shavings!!! I think where it had the failure it was being put in the fuel system throught the pick pump. The throttle plate assy that I got from you was full of dirt and grit. It took FOREVER to clean up. Get a few call me!

Ben,
good to hear that. It was a beast out of the hole.

Re: Carl Gufey's Modified 2.5 200

Today was the day to finish the break-in emoParty . The sun was out, the wind was nigh, and there were no boats out on Ft. Loudoun. I made a eighty mile run today, Ft. Loudoun Dam to Neyland Stadium and return. So it is official, 10 hours emoHoppingmad , 400 miles, 4 days +/-.

The motor is spinning with little to no effort. The fuel mileage is good, I used less then 2/3 rds of a 28 gallon tank today, before it would have been on fumes.

Notes: As much fun emoCool as I had today, it really sucks running 2800,in cool weather, with it raining.emoEnforce

Re: Carl Gufey's Modified 2.5 200

Now time to dial her in and see what she has!!!! Can you tell a difference from the 1st day???LOL!!!!

Re: Carl Gufey's Modified 2.5 200

Have not disassembled the VST yet...Hope to be working on FI system tomorrow...Doesn't surprise me about the throttle plate assembly: motor had VERY little maintenance through the course of its FORMER life.

Got the tuner removed, cut down, and reinstalled last night (Had a HELL of a time getting the exhaust adapter back reinstalled over the rubber washers on the upper motor mounts)

I'll try to give you a call sometime this afternoon.

Re: Carl Gufey's Modified 2.5 200

Did you remove the liner????? that will give it the "sound" you were looking for. Hope to have my beast together saturday and on the bullet. It should be fun!!!!!!!!!

Re: Carl Gufey's Modified 2.5 200

Yes, liner is now occupying a spot in my trash can...Did you mention that this may cause one of the vent hoses to melt?!...Also, check your PM: Got a rude awekning on those O-ring quotes...

Re: Carl Gufey's Modified 2.5 200

It will melt the guide tube for the water pump. Not a big deal. The only purpose is to get it lined up then it does nothing.

Re: Carl Gufey's Modified 2.5 200

No problem Spurhunter. Just happy to help. I enjoy doing this and love to share how to do it so others can do it.
