So somebody educate me on what the good points are on this thing. There have been so many reports of what was in it, then cut, then added in another form, I am lost. I dont want to be a sheep, and follow the Health bill haters for no reason, so sell me on this thing. What dont I know that I should.

Ismy insurance, that I work hard at my job to pay for, (no jokes)not going to be affected negativly?

I have more to ask, but I really want some pros to counter the cons I have heard about this thing. PLEASE help me out here.

If somebody wants to starrt a "Con" thread, please do that, dont hijack mine.

Not hi-jacking...but I hope that you get some answers also. I have a problem with the getting "fined" for not having this GOV'T mandated insurance. Looks like if you can't afford the insuarance...you couldn't pay the fine. Is this just me? What then? BUILD MORE JAILS? emoScratch

someone who prays with the muslims and cancel the national day of pray is not in my favor. people on govt aid and the ones crossing the border will have all they ever need and if I was a doctor I would walk away, if I am wrong I am sorry. But this is not for the normal person. They have to go to the table again and change some things, why didn't they do it right to start with. The last thing is that those on Social Security did not get a raise this year and they will not get one next year but the medicare ins does go up.

No denial of coverage for pre existing conditions. Under the status quo, if a child is born with a heart problem, the insurance companies can & do deny coverage under the pre existing conditions clause.
Now, let me be clear. I'm not sold on this bill myself so I'm not going to debate it. Spur just asked for pro's and that's one.

Hospital will be the biggest winners, especially a hospital like erlanger, There is only a coupe of departments at Eralnger that actually make a profit. Erlanger looses millions every year because people will come in with no insurance and simply do not pay. When they do not pay the cost is past on to other patients with insurance, to the government, and drives up cost. People that complain how expensive this will be to taxpayer, one must realize the government already spends 100 billion plus a year to substadize hospitals like erlanger. Many times people with no coverage will not go to hospital until it becomes an emergency which is more expensive. What little I understand of it anyway, I really think Rupublicans missed an opportunity to curb malpractice by not negotiating that as part of the reform package. I believe if they had it to do over again, I believe they would. This may hurt some in November when its brought up during their campaigns, especially when voters realize a lot of the negativity simply was just not true.

I think that the plus will be the curbing of premiums. One of the poeple we know had ins and was paying allot of money out for ins. Well the more care he had the higher the premium. He was pain roughly 25000for ins and prex was killing him for changing. With the caps and no prex he might be able to afford it.

Like Pelosi said, "We must pass the bill so we can find out whats in it!" I think we will know more about the bill very soon now that it has passed! emoThumbsup emoThumbsup

No more pre-existing conditions.....being a Woman is no longer a pre-existing condition. No more lifetime caps. Children can stay on a parents health plan til age 26. Buyer pools will be established to get most everyone covered. Removing pre-exsiting conditions exemptions for insurance companies cannot work til the pools are established, which will take up to 4 years. These pools will prevent people from declining coverage while healthy, and jumping into the system when they are diagnosed with a serious medical problem. Possum is right, public hospitals, and the general population, are the winners here. The insurance companies are the losers. (That's why they fought so hard to prevent reform) Make no mistake here: Zack Wamp... our next Governor, is not the Representative for the People of the 3rd district, he is the Representative for Blue Cross Blue Shield of TN While it's true, insurance companies will have many, many more new customers, those new customers won't be the healthiest or most profitable of our population, and in most cases insurance companies will be accepting people that they have rejected or charged much higher rates for in the past. Spreading the risk among all of us will in time bring down costs for all of us. Emergency rooms and trauma centers will be able to treat life or death patients, and not the stomach flu with someone who couldn't afford a $150.00 office visit to be treated. There has always been a huge political risk, when taking on the Insurance companies, and I'm sure many in Congress will lose their seats because of it. (Many lost their seats in 1994 at just the mere mention of healthcare reform) But at least these Democrats will be able to sleep at night, knowing it was the right thing to do. You can thank them later.

So what Pelosi said, You must buy a home first , then find out what condition the house is in , how many rooms and bathrooms it has , total sq.ft. , this does not make any since to me...... emoScratch emoBang

Spur, how can you not know what's in it. It was posted on every government website for the people of the U.S. to read 72 hours prior to any vote. emoParty emoLaugh emoPoke emoBang emoTongue I mean, I don't actually know this because I didn't look but Obama said it would be. emoGrouphug

Scary!!!

Yup she is very scary. Good thing though is that she will have her b**ls cut off this November.

That is a pro isn't it Spur.

If you're a lazy deadbeat, living in guvment housing, collecting welfare, and having more babies to get a bigger check this gives you an even better reason to stay home and not try to improve yourself, get a job, or contribute anything to society. emoThumbsup emoThumbsup

It's all pros Spur there are no cons, it's all unicorns and rainbows. What bad could come of this. Most of the country wanted this our elected officials were just doing what we wanted.

Children can stay on a parents health plan til age 26-- why is this a good thing?

Just like myself, I was without health care for many years while going to college, fortunately nothing bad happened. I know a guy that had an ATV accident, in debt for over 100,000. Not a good way to start your adult life.

AirrusBoy - 3/23/2010 3:37 PM

That's the key...if you have no insurance, why do something such as ride and ATV, instead of using common sense.

Common sense went out the window with this legislation.

The pro is that come November we the people will show congress what common sense (or lack thereof) will get them. Might not help stop this healthcare communism but it will dang sure make the newbies think before they go shoving something like this down the throats of Americans when it is blatantly against the will of the overwhelming majority of the citizens of the US.
