I'll ask the question again.........please name the top 10 "Conservative" IDEAS (that were opposed by liberals) in the last 100 years that have positively affected the lives of average Americans. Cmon bubbakat, cheez, sniperchoke, beetlespin, arrisboy, elwestb, dropshot, eyeman2, huddle up. Surely you can to come up with a top ten list. I'm quite sure some of you you have excellent internet educations. When Doc1 and myself comment about the Republicans/conservatives accomplishing nothing, and being the party of "NO" There is a 100 year history to back it up. It's not just based on opinion, but fact. I'll use a quote from bbass's signature line. "People who say it cannot be done, should not interrupt those that are doing it."....
Anytime you would like to put your formal education against mine, you can simply put your degree(s) where your mouth is...
Here's a few for you to ponder on while you are worrying about you or your kids being slighted at the next CFF outing.
1. Using the buildup of the military to bankrupt the Soviet Union. Carter figured by weakening the military, he could convince the USSR to do the same. Reagan did not play that game, and by increasing military builidup force the Soviets to do the same. Then the wall came down.
2. Support of Civil Rights - In the 26 major civil rights votes after 1933, a majority of Democrats opposed civil rights legislation in over 80 percent of the votes. By contrast, the Republican majority favored civil rights in over 96 percent of the votes.
3. The idea tha cutting taxes will stimulate the economy, because people know better than the government how to spend their own money.
4. The idea that restricting a free economic market will also restrict economic growth, and keep the government from imposing its will on the economy.
5. The idea that welfare is not a freebie stand that is used to invoke political voting power on the poor and ignorant.
6. The idea that people of all races should be allowed to vote (also opposed by the Democrats in 1965)
7. The idea that people of all races should be able to march and sit where they want. (Remember Selma 1965)
8. The idea that free speech is true for all people, not just certain groups.
9. The idea that small government is better than big government.
10. The idea that unions once served a purpose, but are now a crutch used by corrupt union leaers to further their own agendas (SEIU, etc.).
