What a joke the new Tn license increase is almost 17% if i did the math right(never my strong suit) how do you all feel about paying the highest license fee in the south?

ala resident 13.00 fishing only hunting inc deer and turkey 26.20
ga resident 9.00 yr hunt 10.00 yr
n.c 20.00 hunt and fish 25.00
s.c 3 yr combo 75.00
ky combo 30.00

Tn 34.00 plus a buck+ 35.00

ridiculous considering we have more water and less fish except the chick.

I have completely stopped hunting. Not against it and I still have my guns, I just don't do it anymore. I don't like that I am forced to by the combo.

Don't quite understand what you mean by this?

Yeah I hear ya, I live just over the state line in GA and now I Have to pay 50.00 instead of last years already high $ 42.00 non resident fishing license, which is one of the highest non-resident fishing license in the south.

Even though I own a house near Crossville, I have to buy the non-resident license since I am in Texas seven months. With a trout tag ( you need one if you fish anywhere there are trout) I'm over $80.00. Ouch. At least my Texas resident license is "only" $24.00 or so.

Got to pay to play.... richg99

I for one get my money's worth out of Tennessee's resources. TWRA has to operate and they get the majority of there money thru licence sales. They have had 2 increases in 25 years. Cost of operating goes up.

I am a GA resident, and Yes it may seem high when you pay it, but then again its a year's fee. Divide it over the number of times that we go a year, and its pennies. TWRA has done an outstanding job at growing and managing our resources, and if they double it, I for one will still be glad to pay them. But to each their own...

Something that is not thought of or given thought to,,,,WE, the fishermen and hunters SOLELY fund our privileges,,,Ga, Alabama Texas and theses other states are funded by the State Government,,,,We fund Ourselves

You are correct. I piss away 35 bucks every week on random things. I don't mind paying 35 for a year, I get my monies worth out of it.

I dont understand why I cant buy just a fishing license. I havent hunted in 30 years. The number of times I fish a year doesnt have anything to do with it. I drive a car everyday and if my drivers license price jumped like that I would be pissed. It might not sting so bad if the TWRA did something about all the gill nets that are killing the bass that my license fees paid to stock in our lakes.

Since I live in Texas for over half of the year.....I believe that all of our license money goes to the State of TX. Then, they give Texas Parks and Wildlife a pittance back. So much for our outdoor monies coming from the State.

We've been under-funded for park maintenance for as long as I can remember.

Tennessee has tons more lakes and rivers for me to enjoy. I am happy to pay the $80.00 non-resident fee annually. richg99

No complaints from me, and I don't usually use the hunting portion any more. I spill more booze than that at a good party. Well, I used to.

I actually get excited to go get my license every year b/c I know March and April are coming with some Great weather, sunshine, and fun fishing! I get to go all the time though. I do hate it for my brother in laws who come from Kentucky that don't get to fish, but about 5 times a year. I do wish when you bought the license it would last a year from the date of purchase. Hey the good thing is you could catch a 15lb bass on any cast. And we are all saving a ton of money in gas compared to years past. They raised California last year to 47.01 and the number of people who bought went down. The national average was 25.72 last year.

Could be a good thing, maybe the lake won't be as crowed!

License fees are worth every penny. If you don't like it, don't buy it or leave the state. It will be just as crowded with or without you.

Whether you fish and hunt or fish or just hunt. Your dollars are going to support a self reliant entity that is working deligently to create a wonderfully enjoyable wild Tennessee.

I'm not a big fan of having to buy a combo license that includes hunting because I don't hunt, but then again it doesn't bother me too much either. It's $35 a year, not sure I see what the problem is. Only thing that ticks me off about it is that the last time I went fishing I didn't catch anything, and I didn't get any of my money back! That's the real BS right there :p

It is what it is. I agree that the benefits far outweigh the annual license fee. Before I moved to TN I always worried that I'd never get to share in the experience of the "good ol' days" of a lake in its prime. These are the good ol' days for Chick. Well worth the cost of admission!

RE: Lifetime License

I had always bought the all-inclusive Sportsman License because I always hunt & fish a little bit of everything. In 2003 I knew another license increase was coming in 2004. I bit the bullet and forked over (at that time) $1,200 for a Lifetime License. It paid for itself in nine years.

So, the way I look at it now, for the last three years the State of Tennessee has been paying me to hunt & fish. emoBigsmile

Trust me, I know it hurts to make the "capital outlay." But depending upon your age and anticipated hunting/fishing future... a Lifetime License may be the way to go.

And I KNOW that if you or anyone in your family has a new baby (or kid under three), you should DEFINITELY buy them one. For anyone under three, a Tennessee Lifetime License is a mere $200! emoEek They might never use it, but it seems crazy not to invest $200 in a lifetime of opportunity (IMHO).
