stuckinthetrees - 3/6/2016 1:55 PM So the price of a freshwater fishing liscence is now $34?

I wouldn't buy one if your looking for fish in the trees.. :)

Yup...cost went up but for a self funded widlife system, it would bother me if it was 50 a year. I don't want the state and government managing ****!

+1 on government management. 56$ may seem like a lot of money to fish but stop and think about the other things you buy. $15 crankbaits, $100 rods, heck $56 won't fill up some of these new bass boats with gas. So yea, I'll gladly pay it.

I'm ok with the 34 dollars. 10 years from now we may be wishing it was just 34 dollars. I agree with bullet02, 34 dollars won't fill my boat up. And I have already spent 250+ on just rods this year and have yet to get to try them out.

I hate that prices have to rise, but the dollar loses value over time. The US dollar loss half of its value since 2001. It's unfortunately how deficit spending works. If you don't raise enough money from taxes you print more money. Dems tend to tax and Repubs tend to deficit spend.

But, my projections indicate that I'll spend about $.25 for every spotted bass between 3lb to 7lb caught this year. That's a good value for me, plus I'll get river otter, bald eagle, black bear, white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and song bird observations for free.

It cost me 50$ this year because I live in Georgia but it is what it is
They say you got to pay to play. But just think what it will cost if you get caught with out them

Yes, the license cost increased. I bought a lifetime in 2000, when I hit the 50 yr. price break. It has paid for itself two time over, as I was a non resident for 8 years. TWRA is supported through our license purchase, and Wallop-Breaux funding. We don't have taxpayer support from the state, unlike other states. The license fee isn't very bad , when you consider we don't pay income tax. Yes , the sales tax is higher, but do the other calculations, it is a deal.
Plus we have great fishing, those Florida/Northern strain, 15.2 # large mouth, weren't free.

Non resident license kills me I pay close to 300 to fish and hunt small game in tn and live 10 mins from the line. I wish someone would pass a law that said if you Live in a bordering county you can get resident license either way. It would help a lot with increasing sales both ways

Increases stink but I think it is by far the best deal going. A year's worth of unlimited opportunity to fish plus seasonal hunting is still far cheaper than just one Sat round of golf or just one evening out for dinner and movie plus I can lose $34 worth of tackle in no time flat.

I am upset at my poor skills as I am on the other end of the spectrum from jimwarden... my annual cost per fish now starts at about $11.33.

There is reciprocity in Tennessee on some lakes. Dale Hollow comes to mind, Tn./ Ky. How much and what lakes is a political issue for the legislators and wildlife departments to sort out. It is the same issue in other states.

As a Georgia resident, I pay $50 a year for a Tennessee fishing license. It's not bad in my opinion. I payed almost that much for a resident license when I lived in California. We also didn't have all the free boat ramps that we have here. 10 years ago when I lived in California it was between $5 and $7 just to put your boat in the water every time. Increases suck but remember... it could be a lot worse and it is worse in a lot of places .

I agree with most of you folks if you fish or hunt any at all it shouldn't be that big of a deal.I do wish the hunting and fishing were separated and they ran from when purchased them for a year. Although I can't say much any more because I don't have to buy one anymore.

I have always thought they should be separated or have the choice. I also think if Tennessee would do as Wyoming has done for years, create a CONSERVATION STAMP/STICKER. Out there, no matter what type of watercraft you put in their waters......you have to have the sticker. The way we have it here, the fishermen foot the bill. Just my .02 worth.
