We had 15 boats tonight. Most had a tough time of as only 3 boats weighed in fish. The team of Willerson and Cabrera killed it with 19.11 and one monster fish weighing in at 11.06 lbs. What a beautiful fish!
3 fish. 6:30 to 9:30.

1st place. Willerson & Cabrera. 19.11. Big fish. 11.06

2nd place. Pratt & Pratt. 13.09

3rd place. Rodgers & Anthony. 8.75

Next week - Same place/ Same time

Yeah it was a beast. 19+ plus bag, and one of the 3 fish was about 2 lbs or so...the other 6+ with the 11..here is a pic. She ended up surfacing in the weeds so we took my boat out and got her(biggest bass ever in my livewell!) took her back to the dock and we fizzed her(not sure of the name of the guy with needle or who poked it, thanks!) and watched her swim off to the bottom, looked fine when she swam away. Congrats to team Pratt and Bob and Steve.

Good to see Ron win one this year. Ron usually by now has taken some folks money but this year not so much. ;) Better watch out, if he gets hot he is a force to reckon with. emoWorthy Jmax

As long as your not fishing. Lol, then we be fishing for 1st out of money. Jmax or Jbass!</p>

These big fish are great but we need to take less pics and get them right back in the water asap. Congrats to a great catch.

Nice job ron and eric... I have always said they need to have the weigh ins at the docks by the ramp so they can be released into deeper water.

Jim I'm glad you kept an eye out on that fish! It would have sucked to see that one dead. Seems like these smaller tournaments need more awareness on how to take care of fish and how to fizz them. Thanks again Jim

I have fished with ron numerous times and I assure you that fish was well taken care of with frozen bottles and fish care product. I find it humorous that people just assume every single tournament angler is stupid on fish care.

I got word from an eye witness that all the dog fight participants headed to the house while that fish was still out there struggling. My eyewitness was the person who fizzed and released the fish. I too, know Ron. I am in no way criticizing his fish care abilities.

I am very interested in urging TWRA to require permits for people to hold tournaments on this lake. Killing something that took 12 years plus to grow for a 3 hour dogfight and $200 is stupid!

I guess Churly never had his pic. taken with a fish. LOL

You guess wrong.

With all due respect, Churly knows what he's talking about as much as anyone. I didn't see him being disrespectful either. I've fished around Ron for a while now and I don't think he would knowingly leave a struggling fish like that. He may have left by the time the fish came back up.

You are right most people left, there were about 4-6 guys I would guess that hung around. I can say Ron went in the water with it, and worked with it and saw it swim away. I know they took care of it and iced the livewell too. There are always a few that hang around and watch a while. It just so happened it came up about 5 minutes after they left. I just happened to have my boat in water still is why I went and got it. You are right about getting the fish in the water asap. There were pictures taken(it was, after all, a beast) but I know that didn't last longer than 30 seconds or so and in the water she went.

Thanks but I didn't really do anything, it was a group of guys BSing after the fight and watching for fish to come up. There is always a few hang around in every tourney. I am glad one guy did have a needle. If he hadn't I don't know what would have happened. I know I am going to get one. And gain some more knowledge on subject.

Question for anyone-when fishing for bass in deep water, not in a TX but just fishing, and you pull up a fish from deep. Are you risking anything by just releasing it back, or should it be fizzed? Does it suffer any of the symptoms if released right back?

Anyone who was not there in person shouldn’t form an opinion based on hearsay. As usual this has turned in to a BITCH FEST. Which seems to happen often on this forum. :emoticon:

Sorry, GB, but Im gonna rant anytime I hear about big fish dying, struggling, etc.

For the record, I wasnt calling anyone person out. But I promise having a 3 hour dogfight every night of the week IS, without a shadow of a doubt, hurting our fishery. Period.

What's the difference in 15 boats having dogfights 5 nights a week & 150 boats fishing on a Sat tourney?.... A lot!

There is only half (75) boats fishing for a combine time of 225 hrs. vs 150 boats fishing for a total of 1,200+/- hrs. I don't compete in the weekly dogfights but feel you need to consider the facts. Just saying...

Oh jeez....here we go again. All the people who want to complain...try stepping away from the keyboard and doing something with a positive impact for our sport...cause this isn't helping anything.
