I pull a bass tracker pro team 175 with my blazer I have to go up two mountains on the way home from the lake. It has done fine so far had it almost two years and I make the trip almost every weekend sometime two times a weekend.

i have a ford exploer and a dodge the ford has a 4.? v6 the doge has a 360 i pul a19.5 javelin i have to pull it up big mountins and both do well so good luck

I am not recommending you do this but I have been towing a Bass Tracker with a 2000 Saturn for almost 5years now and have had no problems. I did check out the towing capacity in the manual before buying the boat since I did not have any other vehicle. It should give you the towing capacity in the manual.</p>

man i have to say that i am in the business of rebuilding transmissions, And with that being said. Your transmission was already on its way out... There is no way that that alum. boat caused it. for sure not that quick. Groomer pulls his with a saturn. And i work on his vehicle. And him hauling his boat has not hurt his transmission at all............. Also if yours is waiting that long to shift, It could have a sensor going bad. When a transmission burns up it usually slips ect. so you might wanna get it checked somewhere else. Atleast get a second opinion before u throw in the towel on the van..... Toyota buids a really reliable transmission.....

I am indeed skittish to buy something. Hate buying cars. And CrappiefishermanTN - are you in Harrison? I don't feel comfortable driving it all the way there but would love to get a second opinion. I'm in Cleveland.

A good little tow vehicle might be the Ford Escape ...a little smaller than the Explorer but room for 2 adults up front and 2in the back or 3 kids plus room in the back for a couple of coolers etc.. They`ve been made since 2001 so there`s plenty of them a round. The older v-6 have 200hp and would be a good match for the 14 footer. Get in the 20`s mpg and some are 4wd. Newer models have 240hp and 23-24mpg. The last 2 Ford trucks I`ve had is a 86 150 2wd sold with 265,000 still running great and the 99`150 4x4 supercab still driving with 245,000. Very little work done and no Tranny problems. Just for reference.

Escape, eh? Hmmm...

And for the record, I hate buying automobiles. If I had unlimited cash, it would be one thing. But when you're trying to stay super cheap...

I rented one and took it for a tour of the west back in `05 for a month. Loved it , got 25+ on the interstates ,fun to drive ,small enough to whip it around kinda like a jeep, auto4wd. I liked it so much I looked to buy one a couple years ago. After not finding one to suit me I ordered a 2012 last year before they changed to the new style. according to the tow rating, it should pull my 20`Bullet. I haven`t tried it yet because I still have my 150. I probably won`t do a long interstate speed drive with the Bullet because of the shorter wheel base. But won`t be afraid to pull my little 14`duck boat any where with it. My sister has `97 Explorer she bought new and has a ton of miles on it and I don`t think she`s had to do any thing but normal maintanence. Just for reference !

Just gotta find another good transmission person in Cleveland. Any tips?

I live in Ga, so I don't really know anyone up there. Got a question tho, If your driving it and you manually shift it, does it still take awhile?

I know a fellow that has a 2002 Toyota Sequoia hes gonna sell that would pull the wheels off the trailer. Very nice ride BTW

$7,800 is a little beyond me. My wife and I are in the process of adoption, and if you know anything about it, you know it's expensive. Best time for the van to go kaput? Hahaha... I'd say no.
