EXCELLENT ARTICLE. NEVER EVER WOULD I HAVE THOUGHT THIS WOULD COME OUT OF ASPEN , CO .....

Barack Obama has awakened a sleeping nation!
Gary Hubbell
Aspen Times Weekly February 2010

Barack Obama is the best thing that has happened to America in the last 100 years. Truly, he is the savior of America 's future. He is the best thing ever.

Despite the fact that he has some of the lowest approval ratings among recent presidents, history will see Barack Obama as the source of America 's resurrection. Barack Obama has plunged the country into levels of debt that we could not have previously imagined; his efforts to nationalize health care have been met with fierce resistance nationwide; TARP bailouts and stimulus spending have shown little positive effect on the national economy; unemployment is unacceptably high and looks to remain that way for most of a decade; legacy entitlement programs have ballooned to unsustainable levels, and there is a seething anger in the populace.

That's why Barack Obama is such a good thing for America .

Obama is the symbol of a creeping liberalism that has infected our society like a cancer for the last 100 years. Just as Hitler is the face of fascism, Obama will go down in history as the face of unchecked liberalism. The cancer metastasized to the point where it could no longer be ignored.

Average Americans who have quietly gone about their lives, earning a paycheck, contributing to their favorite charities, going to high school football games on Friday night, spending their weekends at the beach or on hunting trips - they've gotten off the fence. They've woken up. There is a level of political activism in this country that we haven't seen since the American Revolution, and Barack Obama has been the catalyst that has sparked a restructuring of the American political and social consciousness.

Think of the crap we've slowly learned to tolerate over the past 50 years as liberalism sought to re-structure the America that was the symbol of freedom and liberty to all the people of the world. Immigration laws were ignored on the basis of compassion. Welfare policies encouraged irresponsibility, the fracturing of families, and a cycle of generations of dependency. Debt was regarded as a tonic to lubricate the economy. Our children left school having been taught that they are exceptional and special, while great numbers of them cannot perform basic functions of mathematics and literacy. Legislators decided that people could not be trusted to defend their own homes, and stripped citizens of their rights to own firearms. Productive members of society have been penalized with a heavy burden of taxes in order to support legions of do-nothings who loll around, reveling in their addictions, obesity, indolence, ignorance and "disabilities." Criminals have been arrested and re-arrested, coddled and set free to pillage the citizenry yet again. Lawyers routinely extort fortunes from doctors, contractors and business people with dubious torts.

We slowly learned to tolerate these outrages, shaking our heads in disbelief, and we went on with our lives.

But Barack Obama has ripped the lid off a seething cauldron of dissatisfaction and unrest.

A former Communist is given a paid government position in the White House as an advisor to the president. Auto companies are taken over by the government, and the auto workers' union - whose contracts are completely insupportable in any economic sense - is rewarded with a stake in the company. Government bails out Wall Street investment bankers and insurance companies, who pay their executives outrageous bonuses as thanks for the public support. Terrorists are read their Miranda rights and given free lawyers. And, despite overwhelming public disapproval, Barack Obama has pushed forward with a health care plan that would re-structure one-sixth of the American economy.

Literally millions of Americans have had enough. They're organizing, they're studying the Constitution and the Federalist Papers, they're reading history and case law, they're showing up at rallies and meetings, and a slew of conservative candidates are throwing their hats into the ring. Is there a revolution brewing? Yes, in the sense that there is a keen awareness that our priorities and sensibilities must be radically re-structured. Will it be a violent revolution? No. It will be done through the interpretation of the original document that has guided us for 220 years - the Constitution. Just as the pendulum swung to embrace political correctness and liberalism, there will be a backlash, a complete repudiation of a hundred years of nonsense. A hundred years from now, history will perceive the year 2010 as the time when America got back on the right track. And for that, we can thank Barack Hussein Obama.

Here is one that appears to be beneficial for all of us; so I think we should keep it going............. Governors of 35 states have already filed suit against the Federal Government for imposing unlawful burdens upon them. It takes only 38 of the 50 States toconvene a Constitutional Convention.

An idea whose time has come!
For years and years we have been complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could:
1)Retire with the same pay after only one term.
2)Do not have to pay into Social Security.
3)Have specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws.
4) The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform in all of its forms.
I truly don't care if a senator or congressman is a Democrat, a Republican, or an Independent. The self-serving, self-interest must STOP.

PLEASE DO YOUR PART:
Contact a minimum of twenty people on your address list; in turn ask each one of them to do likewise.

In just days, most people in The United States of America will have the following message:

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:

"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States ."
Take heart. We, the people, CAN take back our country an
the principles upon which it was founded! Congress is NOT
an elite organization. Every single one of them was elected to SERVE the people of this great country and it is time
every single one of them understands this.

One of the engineers at work has been saying this about olbummer since he got elected. We (Americans) will have to endure some hardships while the liberals try to destroy the country. After that most of us will have woken up and the communist liberals will be exposed for what they really are and will hopefully, prayerfully be finished. Then we can get our country back.

Just watch and wait guys. There is a major scandal originating in Chicago that will finish Obama and put Hillary in a position to run in 2012. The NY Times already has the information and is sitting on it because they are solidly in the liberal's camp. However, some think an investigation by the new House majority will blow the lid off.

Liberalism is just a step, or another name, for progressive. Progressive is just another step, or name, for socialism. Socialism is just another step, or name, for communism. Of course, all are Marxists. In America, many uninformed people don't even know these people have co-opted the Democratic party. Isn't that amazing?

We didn't really land on the moon either. If this country completely goes down the tubes, it won't be because of liberalism, socialism, communism, or because we took prayer to Jesus out of the schools. The simple thing that will destroy us, and almost has throughout our Nation's history is GREED!

You are 100% correct about the greed Danny. The big difference is, I think its greed for power by commie Libs, you thinks its capitalism. Either way, we all loose in the end if things don't "change".

That's why we need a healthy mix of both. History is on my side. Every time our Nation has come to the brink of a complete financial colapse, it has been "Capitalist Greed" that got us to that point, and liberal politicians and policies that have brought us back. It's pretty simple for me.... The Gov't (local, state and federal) should only be doing the things that the "Free Market Capitalist" system either CAN'T do, or WON'T do effectivly for the good of ALL Americans. The Goverment's job is to look out for ALL of us, not just some of us. If that makes me a socialist/communist then so be it. It will always be a battle, and I really don't care much for the nastyness of it. But , it has always been that way going back to the founding fathers. The only time in recent history that we acted as one Nation was during wwII. It's laughable to me that anyone who is a liberal/progressive thinker is labeled a socialist/communist, and acutually wants to take our Nation to 1960's and 70's USSR style Communism. And even more insulting are the comparisons to Adolf Hitler

With all do respect you are completley misquided and wrong. This current mess was created by gov't and regulation. Can you recall Fannie and Freddie. Everyone should own a home bull crap started by Clinton and continued under Bush. What did gov't do when financials failed? They bailed them out.. Should have let them fail history shows we would have had a short depression followed by a quick recovery. Now we have a decade long recession that we may never totally recover from. Same thing happened in the 30s. Took us a second World War to get out of it.

Sniperchoke you finally got something right, massive government spending for WWII is what got us out of the depression.

PROFIT IS NOT A FOUR LETTER WORD

PROFIT IS NOT A FOUR LETTER WORD: We Must Rethink How We Feel About Profits

Its not the corporations who are the FAT CATS today.

Obama has never hidden his contempt for American business. He hates American businesses and the profits it seeks. In speech after speech he expresses his disdain for profit. In one teleprompter reading session, Obama shook his head in disbelief and with a disdainful snort railed:

“…You’ve got oil companies making record profits…no… no companies in history have made the kind of profits the oil companies are makin’ right now…They..they…….one company, Exxon Mobil, made eleven billion dollars…billion, with a “b” ….last quarter….they made eleven billion dollars the quarter before that…makin’ money hand-over-fist…makin’ out like bandits…”

Is it any wonder our economy is a shambles when our President calls our most productive companies bandits. How could any economy thrive while the President actively seeks to destroy business or take it over to be run by bureaucrats who have never in their lives turned a profit.

If so many Americans hadn't been brainwashed into believing profits are stealing (as in bandits) or inherently evil we wouldn't be in such a mess today. Personally, I trust businesses that must do a good job in order to survive more than I trust the government that takes all the money it needs by force from taxpayers no matter how poorly it's performance.

On the one hand, for profit business must perform in order to exist. For profit businesses cannot long cover up poor performance, sooner or later market forces catch up, sales decline, profits dry up, and then the businesses must improve or die.

No so the government. All government inefficiency, incompetence, and poor performance can be and is covered up by raising taxes, hiring more employees and IRS agents, and passing new laws giving it more power.

The sooner people wake up and realize that profits pay for everything -- that profits buy everyone's bread and pay everyone's taxes (even those who work for the government) the sooner we can get our governments to stop waging war against American business and get this country back the track to prosperity.

Personally I have several employees that would rejoice to hear me announce that our company is making “record profits” because they'd know that their paychecks would get fatter, bonuses would be forthcoming, and their jobs secure.

They as do most people who work for private enterprise understand that “earning a profit” is not as Obama says the equivalent of “makin’ out like bandits” (i.e. “stealing”).

If only if we could convince elected officials and the rest of government that it is the profits eked out by business that pay for everything, EVERYTHING! Then maybe our government would do its job and make it easier to do business rather that harder.

If only you puppets could think for yourselfs. I say lets go back to paying $4 a gallon for gas, would that make you happy spurhunter, oil companies could make a good proifit there. Lets get this thing going. Oil companies making about 100 billion a year, peoples credit cards maxed because you have to pay at pump. Pump it up.

With Clinton making "home ownership" easier and more available did not start this mess. Some of the same things were done under Reagan and Bush1. The reason we got into trouble is that Wall St. with a "wink wink" and less regulation from Republicans (and some Democrats) saw it as an opportunity to make billions, which they did. Mortgages were traded like pork bellies, and exotic financial instruments were created inside them. Huge commissions were paid to the ones who sold them, Many times a standard 20-30 yr fixed mortgage was not even offered to an gullable home buyer. I hate like hell to have to bail out those Wall St. fat cats. But most economists will tell you that it was needed to keep us from having a 1930's style depression. In the 30's the banks were not bailed out, everyone lost their savings, and un-employment went to 25%. It took 5-7 years for much improvement at all.

Obama should have told them to all go to hell. Then the Republicans would had a legitimate cause. Now that Republicans have controll of the House, cannot wait for first piece of legislation. Cannot wait to see what is most important.

Flat out wrong on this one Danny. Clinton himself admitted that the Dems resistedall efforts of the Republicans to tighten up standards on Fanny and Freddie. Sounds strange Republicans wanting more government oversight but that was the case. Liberals polititions and groups like ACORN and the like threatened big banks with sanctions and picket lines to give mortgages to people who could not afford them. Doesn't matter how many times mortgages were bought or soldthe new "home owners" were never going to be able to pay off their mortage. Gullable home buyer, uninformed call them whatever nice name you can come up withnobody forced them to sign a mortgage they couldn't afford. This artifically drove up home prices and is what started this mess.</p>

Shawn the blind sheep will never admit the housing crash was caused by their masters. Even if their masters admit it themselves like Clinton did.

It's funny how history gets spun. "Wall St. got drunk" George W. Bush 2008. It's like anything else with conservatives, If you tell something long enough and loud enough, pretty soon people will start to believe it as the truth. The Glass-Steagall legislation of 1999 had very little or no effect on the 2008 bank collapse. In fact some of the safeguards were stripped away from that legislation in 2004. Instead, in the 2000's it was greedy real estate brokers, real estate investors, mortgage brokers, and Wall St. firms that saw a once in a lifetime chance to get filthy stinkin rich, while the Bush admin looked the other way until it was too late. And yes, stupid, ignorant consumers did their part as well, many of them acting upon the advice of the mortgage broker instead of using common financial sense. This is just a classic case of good ole American capitalism going un-checked, eating too much candy and puking all over itself. . The "Gov't made us do it" spin just doesn't cut it.

Here is a history lesson for Outcaster and Possum. The most repeated statement about the cause of the U.S. Great Depression is that it was caused by the October 1929 stock market crash. How could that be? By April 1930, the stock market had recovered to its pre-crash level. What is not taught in history books is the Great Depression was caused by a massive government failure. The most important part of that failure were the actions by the Federal Reserve Bank that led to the contraction of the money supply by 25 percent. Then, the name of saving jobs, Congress enacted the Smoot-Hawley Act in June 1930, which increased U.S. tariffs by more than 50 percent. Other nations retaliated and world trade collapsed. U.S. unemployment rose from 8 percent in 1930 to 25 percent in 1933. In 1932, the Herbert Hoover administration and a Democratic Congress imposed the largest tax increase in U.S. history, raising the top tax rate on income from 25 percent to 63 percent. The Roosevelt administration followed these destructive policies with New Deal legislation that massively regulated the economy and extended the Great Depression to after World War II.
