Well let me be the first to say that I do not have a problem with the freeze on pay raises, but according to the Washington Post (GET THIS) it does not apply to the military(I AGREE), Postal Employees (Give me a break), Federal judges, and the one that just pisses me off, MEMBERS OF CONGRESS and their Staffs (Did not get the message in the last election). Are members of congress better than the rest of the federal employees.
If anyone deserves their pay raise it is the military.

I think I will write my congressman. emoAngry

How about we require Congress to forgo their Gubment run Healthcare, and buy their own insurance before they try to repeal Obamacare? Who's with me?

There will need to be a lot more spending cuts than frozen federal pay for a couple of years if the massive debt is to be reduced. Cuts will need to hit ALL facets of the federal government spending and taxes will need to be increased. Sounds just great right? We and our children will end up paying for decades of financial trickery in accounting reporting by the Fed and greed by crooked members of the banking and investment industries.

There better be action on getting the illegal’s out to help get out of the fiscal mess, since they contribute to unreimbursed medical costs and they are simply breaking the law by being here illegally. Also, end subsidies to most all goods and services providers - especially millionaire farmers that are paid not to grow, the ethanol subsidies and on-and-on.

What we need is a national sales tax and an added value tax and get rid of the current tax code in its entirety by repealing the 16th Amendment to the Constitution.

If the people in Washington want to get serious the Fed will need to submit to fiscal austerity for some time. OK my rant is over…for now.

Fact is...... Nobody wants to talk about the two elephants in the room. Social Security, and The dept of Defense. With revenues (taxes) at their current level, we could eliminate every single federal program, foreign and domestic, not had the stimulus, and the bailouts, we would still in the Red. That's the "Change" nobody has the political will to tackle.

Here's my political platform:....Lets cut bait, and get the hell out of Afghanistan, Lets cut the military budget by 35%. Additionally I want to raise the retirement age first to 67 now, and by 2025 raise it again to 70. We also need to raise the payroll tax cap on Medicare and SS from 105k to 205k. Problem solved. Who will vote for me?

Danny, I'd be interested in seeing what DOD Programs you'd include in your 35% cut? Lets get some details rather than an out of the air percentage. It’s easy for folks outside of the military and DOD intelligence, who don't understand the real threats our country faces to arbitrarily scream for DOD cuts. Would you cut Aviation, Missile Defense, TACOM, TRADOC, AMC, RDT&E, Advanced Armor, Troop Support, Pay for our Military, or what? I'd like to hear some details from you.

I'm on the fence with Afghanistan. I do agree with your ideas to raise the retirement age for SS. Also, if I had my way, I'd opt out of Social Security, because I'm planning on not needing it.

Why were you not of this mindset BEFORE your heroes shoved this bogus "healthcare" down the unwilling throats of America?

I have an idea for all of you that think Social Security is such a great deal. Start your own financial planning company and offer the EXACT same plan as Social Security and see how long you stay in business before your ass is in jail for fraud. If you make it 6 months I'd be very suprised. Social Security is nothing more than a Ponzi scheme, as is Medicare and Medicaid.

None of it is in a "trust fund" because there is no fund, it's all on the budget. Rather than being set aside to pay for MY Social Security, the $8100+ dollars that is either paid directly by me or on my behalf is used to pay for shit like the non-stimulus stimulus or so that we can pay some starving artist to put a crucifix upside down in a bottle of urine and call it art. Or even worse, to pay the salary of that low life Zach Wamp and every other elected respresentative in Washington. And this is the system you think is so great that it cannot be touched? Talk about falling hook, line, and sinker for some bullshit!!!!!!

Because the 2010 Congress was EXTENDING healthcare to an additional 30million citizens. Not repealing it. If they want to repeal it for 30 million people, they need to repeal it for themselves first.

That's why no one will touch it. Both the military and SS need to be tackled. We can't cut one without the other.

What a total copout. Your heroes shoved the olbummercare down our throats but they would not take it for themselves.

The only thing the commies extended was the United States Federal government and our skyrocketing deficit.

Well over half of the voters in this country did not want the overpriced over reaching BS. Obviously you guys just don't get it. Looks like after November 8 you would get the message. The commie libs lost power because they wasted a dang year squabbling over this junk and causing the economy to get much worse with their worthless "stimulus". You guys still have power albeit not total like the last two years. Get your head out of your rear long enough to actually listen to what the country actually WANTS and you might not lose the rest of the power you have in 2012.

There isn't a party on capitol hill worth a damn. The Republicans suck too! I don't really give a rat's ass about the tax cut expiring for people making over $250k a year. The Blue Bellied repubs are blocking the extension of the Bush tax cuts to protect a small minority of rich people. I'm generally against raising taxes on anybody but the middle class can't afford the expiration of the Bush tax cuts right now and that could happen if this partisan BS doesn't stop. Hell I don't even know anybody that makes $250k a year.

Both parties completely suck! We need a common sense movement.

But I thought all those super rich guys were the very ones that are driving our economy, and creating all of our jobs. They need those tax cuts. lol It's ironic... the new Republican Congress leadership has already said that no legislation will be worked on until the Bush Tax cuts are extended for the rich. We can certainly tell who they work for. It ain't you or me. What's even more puzzling to me...... The people that don't have two nickles to rub together are the the ones defending them.

go ahead and cut social security and medicare, just refund the money to me iv'e paid into for the last 35 years......my freinds wife just got hired by the federal government. it's something to do with homeland security, office job 36.40 per hour, emoTskTsk
