I don't need or trust the gov't to tell me those things. The market will tell me those things much more efficiently..

The VERY REASON we have the Gov't do those things is because the "market" wouldn't.

Maybe Snip should read Upton Sinclairs book "The Jungle" that book really exposed what an unchecked pure capitalistic economy (industry) was all about.

In my opinion, the greatest benefit of either the fair or flat tax is the fact that businesses would immediately bring all off shore activity back to the U.S. The tax advantage is that great. Additionally, the amount of foreign business moving here would result in the biggest economic boom this country has ever experienced. The hard part is getting our lousy congress to give up that control. I do not know how we will ever manage that. It's sad that elected officials care more about their own power than what is best for the country. We need lots of unselfish patriots in congress.

Snip.... I kinda like having my food inspected, my medicine approved, having the restaurant cleanliness score posted, knowing that if a fire breaks out that the building has fire alarms and sprinklers, having a gov't employee confirm that a gallon of gasoline is really a gallon. Guess that makes me a communist.

I agree with this use of our tax dollars. I will never complain about my tax dollars building roads or making food safe or having a safe work place. Nothing wrong with these things as long as they do not carry things to the extreme for political purposes. i.e. the man made global warming lie. I agree that the government should use our taxes to protect us from enemies.

What I do not agree with is the government taking from the rich to give to the lazy. The whole "spread the wealth" thing. THAT is what communism is. The government telling my preacher that he cannot preach about homos. THAT is communism. The government making it a crime for me to give my father's 80 year old shotgun to my brother who lives in another state. THAT is communism. The government telling me that I MUST have health insurance even if I choose not to. THAT is communism. The government telling my child that she cannot pray in school because it offends Akmed's kid or some other heathern. I could write for hours on where the government needs to back off. They DO NOT need to micro manage EVERY facet of our lives.

So Cheez when the Government gave millions to VW to put their plant in Chattanooga so they could spread their wealth to the workers, then paycheck into economy, is that communism? Government cannot restrain your preachers First Amendment rights. Don't know about gun, but sounds like NRA bs to me. As far as insurance, doubled edged sword. Yes you should not have to buy insurance, but when your freeloading ass gets sick and I have to pay for it, do you agree with that? Your child can pray in school, we just can't make it do so. Could you imagine your childs first grade teacher having them pray to Ahla all year? I am sure a person like you would not be offended. However Cheez, I guess the Government telling someone they cannot put a strip club in front of your church or school is OK.

Do you really think the govt gave VW money? They gave then tax breaks to make the city more attractive to VW. I'm sure they know they will receive a lot more tax revenue from the employees of VW and their suppliers employees purchasing local goods. When the govt gives a tax break its not giving anything - its just taking less.

Same difference. Either way if they create jobs I'm all for it. My company just finished a 2 year project out there.

You are right. Taking less from VW and getting it from the employee's. The Republican way. Not to mention Corker coming out and saying it was in VW's best interest to not unionize. He said nothing about the empl;oyee's best intrest who are working for half the national average of auto workers. I think it is a matter of picking sides. One more thing, when you give land to someone, build roads and rail to and into their property, what is that? I guess it is not a hand out going to a corporation, I think you guys call that an investment were government can't create jobs. Could be communism where the government interferes with the economy. Come on Beetle, you know better than that. Smoke and mirrors, all I have seen from the other side for the last two years. What we have done with VW is great. I know how it works. It is called spreading the wealth, what we have been preaching for the last several years. But the spreading the wealth campaign by the Republicans suggesting the Dems are giving trillions to the guys smoking crack on the corner is just ridiculous. Seems to be working though.

Conservatives like painting that picture of the the Gov't stealing money from hard working people, and giving it all to the lazy crackhead. And that is the main problem with our country they say. What they don't tell you is that all of those social programs for the poor amounts to only 11% our tax dollars. This 11% includes food stamps, sec 8 housing, reduced school lunches, head start, Welfare and Wic. State Gov't spends about 15%. We could get rid of all of the social programs for the poor and we would still be in the red.

Thing about that Outcaster, all of it it goes right back into the economy, increasing aggregate demand and tax revenue. Farmers would be screaming if not for welfare. Most of it comes back. If these anti abortionist think abortion is bad now, do away with welfare. I do not like abortion, I think I have made that clear. However, I am not wanting to starve the little feller when he gets here.

Obamacare is so good, he has let 222 different companies and unions opt out of it. I wish I could force congress, SEIU, etc. to accept the same coverage they passed for us. Crooked SOB's.
