What do you do for work?

Chattanooga Fishing Forum

Help Support Chattanooga Fishing Forum:

I work 45 hours/ week for Signal Industrial Products Corp. We have 5 locations around the SE. I've been here for 20 years, after closing my own business selling and supporting computer hardware and software...accounting systems mainly.

We are a distributor/ wholesaler/retailer for fluid and pneumatic seals, and repair all types of cylinders. From o-rings to mechanical seals, come see us.

Up until a couple of years ago I was the Manager of Operations for all locations. I was in charge of everything except sales...accounting, IS/ IT, purchasing, software, SOP, etc, a stockholder and member of the Board of Directors.

I'm now racing down the corporate ladder. I dabble in purchasing and inventory control, as well as consult management regarding accounting and operational issues.

Anybody need one? I'm looking...it's hard to soar with eagles when you work with idiots!

I am the Director of Information Technology at Lookout Mountain CSB. Been in IT for 15+ years in the following positions leading up to where I am now:

Computer Operations Manager
Computer Technician
Field Service Engineer
Lead Desktop Support Manager
Systems Analyst
Network Administrator
Systems Administrator
Senior Systems Administrator

Could not be happier with the team of people I work with and for at LMCS. It is definitely different in the world of ethics and politics going from a publicly traded company to a state agency. I thank the good Lord for all he has given me everyday as I am not deserving of what he had given me.

I do IT consulting on the side to make a little extra spending money. I have also done a little writing for several internet fishing sites in the past including Bassfan.

I am a Computer Technician for TVA. I have been here for 27 years, and currently work with the Siting Engineers. When TVA builds new powerlines, we have to contact property owners, and that is what my job is, to gather that information and put in a database for the engineers to use.

I hold an active CPA license but do not practice public accounting and have spent my career in the private sector:

4 years with now defunct Concrete Forms Corp in a variety of cost and financial accounting roles
2 years with Burner Systems International as accounting manager
16 years with Rubbermaid Commercial Products in Cleveland in a variety accounting and general management roles (plant controller, division operations controller, Cleveland plant manager)

For the last two years I have been blessed to work at Crescent, Inc in Niota, Tn. It is a 106 year old sock company (we think the oldest US sock company still in business) making & sourcing socks for the higher end of the market (spa socks, dress socks, hiking, skiing, etc. merino wool high performance type socks) for brands like Columbia, Life Is Good, Head and a variety of other smaller brands. My title claims I am the Executive Vice President of Finance, Operations and Planning with responsibily for most all things financial/accounting, plant management, demand/forecast planning and supply planning. A lot of hoity toity words in the title but the reality is good people make for a good organization which make good things happen... its a blessing to work with them.

aviator name refers to my pre-fishing hobby of radio control airplanes... where you always walk away from your crashes!

I am currently unemployed, but when I work, I travel around and set up retail stores. I put in shelving, cash wrap, displays and the such. I go in, and it is an empty shell, and this is what it looks like after I leave. I took these pics while the cleaning crew was there, so I was constantly having to move stuff around. When I leave, they are ready to stock and open for business. I know it looks boring, but the pay was really good.
