Great post!! Strangest thing I have caught is probably a bird but I saw this and thought it had to qualify. Someone actually caught this and its a real fish, anyone care to guess what fish?

I don't know but it reminds me of an ex wife! Turn it off! I' ve caught turtles, gator's, a seagull, and an Osprey. I said I caught them, didn't land all of them thank goodness! My Dad caught a 5 1/2 rattle snake at Roseberry, threw and snagged it with a trap it was swimming the creek. Then he caught a cotton mouth almost a 5 ft.'er on a frog in Jones Creek. He hooked a beaver at N'Jack with a 200 Bandit, but the funnest was a blue heron on a spinner bait! He had one heck of a fight there!

Looks sorta like a trigger fish, but they aren't usually that ugly.

It may not be the strangest thing I've caught, but it certainly is the subject of one of the most well-known fishing cartoons around...........

True story:

One day, while I was fishing for trout on the Hiwassee River, I caught a boot.

Men's work boot

Brown leather

Size unknown

It put up a rather short fight.

It was, of course, released emoBigsmile

Forgot about the cliff-swallow I caught in mid-air with a crappie jig. I couldnt figure out for the life of me, why my line was still peeling off my reel, adn I never saw the jig hit the water! LOL..... Landed, photoed, and released unharmed. emoWorthy

Yeah, and you never did reveal what altitude you were fishing emoTongue

Caught a blue heron in Harrison Bay State Park. I was paralleling the bank and just when I threw my lure, it came flying out of a small tree. Managed to hook its wing and it took a header into the lake. Nothing I could do but cut the line. I notified a park ranger a couple of hours later. They were able to net it and remove the hook two days later.

The strangest thing ive caught, was a bottle nose dolphin in Florida, I didnt land it of corse. But I did have a friend who found a mans, Uh! I dont know how to say it w/out being crude! lets just say someone lost his manhood, floating Chick lake, several yrs back. He called the proper authorities.

here are a couple of things the junk was caught during cat Quest, the pine cone while we were in the middle of the channel
