i caught a oven rack during the spot fest, emoScratch thought it was a nice spot or smallie while i was reeling it in. because it was surfing through the water just like a fish. emoDoh emoBadLanguage

I was fishing under a bridge and snagged a body. emoVomit Thank god my hook tore off and I did not have to see it up close. Police were called and they thought it may have been a suicide. emoEek Never did hear about it after that other then it was on the news that night that a body floated up under the I430 bridge. They left out the part that it was hooked by me and started on its way to the shore with me pulling it. I was fishing on the shore, no boat back then. emoDoh Jmax

caught a cat one night while bass fishing. and it wasnt a catfish. It was about 2 in the morning and i had a backlash that needed to get out, so instead of throwing the line with a half oz jig on it into the middle of the lake i decided to throw it up in a yard. As you can imagine it got pretty funny from there.

I've got you all beat. A few years ago in a cba tx I caught a trolling motor. I fought it for 15 minutes before I finally got it in. Steve Kite was fishing 100ft from us and found it pretty entertaining.

By the way, that thing theangler posted is a fishinvol prickfish. Looks just like him.

"What's the strangest thing you caught?"......

nothing that a good dose of antibiotics wouldn't cure ;) emoPoke

j/k...for me it was a small octopus while fishing down at Orange Beach.

Posted this earlier: Do alligators count? I've caught a few of them. lol

I forgot about a small minn kota mod 35 trolling motor I snagged in crystal clear water. That and the usual rod/reel combo, lures, birds etc.

18" Helbender in the Hiwassee in the early 70's. Had never seen one before and didn't have a clue what it was. Released unharmed.

I hooked about a 10LB rock while drifting for cats. Thought I had a big one. Would tug and was surfing from side to side. Rock was round and after got it in, could not get the treble to hook it again.

You guys have caught some strange stuff!!!

I caught a hellbender in the hiawassee also, on worms, in early 90,s. Weird looking thing with reddish fuzzy looking gills.

I have caught a few strange things, sorry no pictures. I have caught a turtle, Quantum rod and reel....still have it, some muscles, lots of shells, a rock, broken off crankbaits, tree limbs, clothes, snakes but the strangest thing was a shopping cart. Me and a friend were fishing some small pond off of Lakeview drive when I hooked it....yes we did manage to get it in, no I didn't have it mounted. Man that brought back some memories. Cool post

Me and my buddy were fishing a pond down around LaFayette, GA. and we landed a huge snapping turtle that someone had took a permanent marker and wrote "JR was here" on the shell ...lol We laughed our butts off.

Plugging for brown trout below 411 bridge at hog pin I hooked what I thought was my trout of a lifetime. I would pull, it would pull-fight on! Ended up a steel trap with about a 6' wire attached. Had the wire hooked dragging the trap in swift water. I did keep the trap and it is on the wall in the basement over at Mom's house. It actually cleaned up rather nice.

Several years ago I was working a dock on Lake Weiss with a Fastrack Wee-R. There was a cat walking on the dock as I made a parrallel cast. The cat caught the Wee-R with both front paws. Hooked him right up too. I went ahead and started reeling him in and let me tell you it was a sight to see. That cat was going absolutely ballistic with those treble hooks in both of it's front paws and being dragged through the water. I got him about 6 feet from the boat when he got loose. He swam back to the shore and headed for the house like his tail was on fire.
I can't say for sure what I would have done with the cat if I had landed him but I was going to do my best to get my new crankbait back. emoBigsmile
