I did some mid range testing yesterday, everything is still great held boat up on plane at 1900 rpm, at 4900 rpm s found the sweet spot on the trim and cruised at 71 mph and at 5100 ran 81.2 mph on GPS , also seeing improved fuel mileage as break -in continues. gas used on this trip was no eth. 89 octane, air temp was a near perfect 44 degrees and still running tpx turbo 29 " prop. I am not going to raise engine height any more until completely out of break-in , still looks like these are going to be great motors so far ,love it!!!

Wrechin2, I had a merc proxs 225 , it got great fuell milage, hsd 1500 hrs on it, but like nearly all on them they have got some serious compressor issues with that motor !!

I was wondering because I was curios if you noticed a handling issue. The 3L merc and the yammi weigh about the same. I didn't know if you had a 2.5 or what. Glad to hear you like the new engine. Yes, mercury has a ton of compressor issues!!!!

SNUFFY, I have the nose cone on the lower unit about 2 clicks away from being level with the bottom of the boat. don't know what the speed rating is , but I do know the same lower unit ran 92 in yahama testing at bridgeport. that would be a good question what is its blow out point !!!

I `m guessin you have the Rapid Jack when you say" 2 clicks" ? That should put you about a 1/2 inch below keel (1/4 inch per click). I`m not familiar with the Yammie Lower unit. The ProXS I`m running has the TorqueMaster (blunt nose) and is supposed to be good to 86MPH. The Sportmaster has the sharp pointed and shaped LU and is rated much higher MPH. Paul Nichols told me he had run the TQM to 91 MPH ...BEFORE IT BLEW OUT ...on a 20Xd. You might want to check with him ....he can probably give you an idea about the Yammie before you go any higher. He recommended 1 1/2 in. below to start out, then adjust. Another thing you might want to check out is Jackplate. My Bullet 94` 20 xd came with the 10" Rapid Jack....made with 3/8 in thick material. I ran a Johnny225 for a dozen years on it. When I put the `09 225 Pro XS I found out the 10" RJ was only rated for 200 HP. I made the switch to a 1/2" material 12" Rapid Jack RATED TO 300hp I think. I also used a 4 ft level and found the keel/cavitation plate so I could find the 0 degree (+/- trim) and marked it with a silver Sharpie on my trim guage so I would know for sure where the engine was located while trying to tweak it out. I`m running the same prop as you @ 0 trim ( just a little over 80) so far but really haven`t got to really work on it much. I`m planning on going up another click at least . Bullets are supposed to run nearly level when set up right. Sounds like you are wanting to go for all the marbles. You might want to call Paul and talk to him. He is THE MAN when it comes to the Bullet set-ups. Unless you`re just wanting to take that wild ride !!

HydroTec made small modifications to the lower unit on a 250 SHO and got 4-6 mph more out of the motor. It was on a 21 ft Stroker and it ran close to 100 mph. I saw a video of it running 96 mph in really bad water conditions.

The wild part was when he trimed the hydro jack plate way to high and we went sliding side ways, we stayed up right but the engine over heated and we sat there about 15min before it would restart.

Do you have any more updates on the SHO? How is the Mid range power? How does it come out of the hole compared to your Merc?
