I've ran a yamaha lower unit 92+ with no signs of blowing out.
But i had the hydrotech mods done to mine.

is this a big price mod. what do they do?

I think its about $500. they basically sharpen the front edge of the lower unit and create true low water pickups on the front, bottom of the nose cone (like a sportmaster). I can run mine as high as my hydraulic plate will let me go without running out of water pressure. thats the key to high top end numbers, getting that engine up high and letting it eat.
