I hear fertalizer is on sell at tractor supply. You Republondicans should load up. You know it has been a while since you blew crap up. We gave you the Presidency and congress. You did not even need the fertalizer to blow government up. You guys are amazing. Now you have fox news to brag about it. Oh well some day the poor will stop being stupid.

SInce you think you have the answers there Possum please explain this tanning bed tax. I'm really anxious to hear it.

I'm not Possum, and I don't have all the answers, but I will explain the Tanning Bed tax to ya. Skin Cancer has been rising dramatically in the last 25 years. Stupid people do have the right to cook themselves in the sun, and the invention of the tanning bed has quickly reduced the time it takes for someone to "look black or mexican" (as someone so elequintly put it). They do this by laying themselves directly under the uv lights. It's simply a cunsumption tax designed to help pay the costs directly associated with high skin cancer risks when stupid people plop thier lilly white butts into one of these uv machines. I would assume the owners of these tanning salons would pass on the tax to the customers. This would help to offset the costs of treating stupid people, because I'm tired of paying higher medicals costs because stupid people at age 60 need a prostetic nose. How's that for all you "Personal Responsibility" preachers?

Danny, when does it stop?

Do you eat fast food? Has it made us gain weight? Sure let's tax it.

Do you drink soft drinks? They are total garbage with no nutrional value, and can increase a number of health problems. Sure let's tax it.

Where do we stop?

OK now, for all you guys that work outsdie, fish outside, hunt outside, guess you're going to get a cancer tax for being in the Sun shine, which we all know causes skin cancer.
In all fairness, I agree that the tax is for forced tanning.
The state of Tn tried to put a tax on bee hives back in the early 90's (D) governor. They wanted a $10 per hive up to 5 hives or a maximum of $50. I had 3 hives at the time, and that would have been $30.
Howard Kerr who was a scientest @ Oak Ridge Labs and a major bee keeper and president of Blount County Beekeeprs Assoc., bought ON PAPER all the behives in the State Of TN and sent the (D) Governor $50 and added a Bill to the State of TN. for $13,000,000.00 (million) for the honey bees that pollenated all the cash crops of TN. True Story
The TN government stopped the tax.
Think outside of the box. These politicians just sit around and try to figure out how to add some tax to the citizens.

If they taxed the tanning beds because they are unhealthy, they should freaking oulaw tobacco and probably alcohol.

Two of the most highly taxed items.

Nowhere near enough compared to what it cost us in healthcare. The government should fund the healthcare law by taxing tobacco and alcohol.

Many city have a take-out tax.

I got no problem with it. Heck most of the cost of soda are tied to sugar and corn which are some of the most highly subsidized crops.

Where do we stop?
When we (as citizens) no longer demand decent infrastructure and support, along with removing government oversight for such programs that help protect clean water and air.

You can't eat cake, unless you pay for it. emoParty

True but money (12.7 billion in '97) is already allocated elsewhere.

The government mentality is; TAX IT..that is all that it boils down to..and they are looking for more taxes as we type.
Medicare is going to be cut by $500,000,000,000.00,,,that's billion...now who is going to get the shaft?? They are going to try and use that $$ for free health care. If it's free, then why do we need Medicare?? Think outside the box boys. All the governemnt needs is the IRS to enforce this "New Deal". as a matter of fact if anyone of you are out of a job, the IRS is going to hire an additional 17,000 people...read it and weep...now where is the money coming from to hire an additional 17,000 government workers...tax $$$

Good answer. Possum would be proud. Since you used the word stupid on several occaisions I assume you do not do anything whatsoever that might be bad for you i.e. eating bean sprouts and drinking carrot juice kinda thing.

Circle the wagons the Feds are going to increase by whooping 0.0008.

PS only 0.0065 of the population is employed by the Feds. Seems reasonable low to me.

Not sure where it should stop.... I do know these things that kill us should be the MOST expensive to consume, ie cigarettes, sugar, and tanning beds, and not the easiest or cheapest. I would have no problem with a tax on sugared soft drinks, and fast food. If not a tax... at least remove them from gov't funded school lunches and snack machines. It's funny.... many of you on this forum claimed that our healthcare problem could be fixed only if we were all healthier, and made better lifestyle choices. Now that this healthcare plan demands some of that.... you're bailing on that too. Personal responsibility goes only so far.... Sometimes people have to be forced (taxed) to make them do the right thing. How quickly we forget.... for years, and years, and years tobacoo compainies (WITH REPUBLICAN SUPPORT) denied any and all healthcare risks associated with smoking cigarettes.

I would have no trouble with taxation on junkfood, cokes, tobacco (more than now), etc. I think high fructose corn syrup, partially hydrogenated fats, and monosodium glutamate should be banned from human or animal consumption. I know this doesn't fit with mt normal republican position but these are just things that are important to me.

All things in Moderation my friend

City/county/state & Federal Government combined is the largest employer to date, with the exception of the US military, which by law will do what the Commander In Chief tells them to do.
Guys, you can't just keep taxing, just because some group thinks what you consume is bad for you.
Let's do away with autos/trucks/planes/motorcycles and trains, 55,000 people would be able to live and not be killed or crippled by these dastardly gizzmo's. Not to mention road kills and inscets.
Got enough PETA & Serria People out there to last 1000 years.
It's against the law to kill your own dog, but you can pay a vet $40 and he'll do it 4 u. Sumpins wrong here.

Danny you are stretching again. I never said I was bailing on the idea of Americans needing to get healthier. You don't know me, but I probably eat healthier than most you would know. I am full on for a healthy America. I just don't know that taxing those products is the way to limit consumption, if thats the goal. Have sin taxes (cigs, alcohol, etc) kept people from consuming those products? No. All extra taxes on junk food, HFC, cokes, would make the poor even more poor, because they won't stop buying the garbage.
