SMA - 5/7/2012 10:26 PM I'm sorry to read this post and see the negative sentiments towards the "nonposters." I think many of us don't post regularly because we don't have anything to post about - I for one never catch anything close to the numbers or size of fish that many of the regulars post about. I suspect lots of others feel the same way. I do want to say "Thank you" to those of you who frequently post information about their successes. There are a lot of generous highly skilled fishermen on this forum and I appreciate their willingness to disclose how they catch fish. The information they write is far more valuable than the baloney in some fishing magazine, and I've improved my skills without stealing anyone's secret spot.

Im really glad to hear you have learned some tips to help you catch fish, that what the forum was started for and is still its prime focus. We DO want to hear about the bad trips, little fish, broken boats, etc. I have numerous reports when i didnt catch a single fish, its still valuable info for other, especially if you share what you did to NOT catch fish. Hope to see some of your posts soon. Thanks! Spur</p>

Benjamin Franklin once said it is better to remain silent and be thought ignorant than to open your mouth and prove them right. Lord knows I have to save what little dignity i have left lol

I enjoy reading the posts-especially the funny ones. I don't fish the Chick, Nick or Watts Bar-I fish Center Hill for walleye. Never had a comment on any of my posts and not many views, although I have posted a few reports. Just figured all you bass and crappie fishermen weren't interested in the Hill or walleye fishing.

I post random reports, but I'm not as popular as Jmax and when I see how many replies and views his reports get compared to mine I turn the computer off and pout in the corner for hours. :)

Thanks to all for input... good stuff.

Cause Jmax will steal your honey hole. lol

Dang! You show a guy a couple secret spots and suddenly he is the one with the huney holes. emoBang

By the way....I do not post as many as I use to cause so many others that did have stopped. emoRolleyes Jmax

You know I'm just giving ya hell, but really Jmax has his own fan club, it's hard to match the reports he puts up.

I don't post near as much as I used to but still try to check the forum a few times a day due to the large amount of posts everyday. I remember when you could check every two days and still keep up with the current threads on the "home" page. The site has grown tremendously over the years and is a great site to be a member of.

I have all but stopped rod and real fishing and mainly bow fish which I don't get to do that often. I have three kids, and work midnight shift 12 days straight before getting off so my opprotunity to fish has dwindled.

I enjoy reading posts and checking the forum regularly and some times I don't have time to read I scroll down through the pictures like a dirty magazine. Not many people "read" the articles they are looking for visual stimulation. LOL emoParty

Well guys...I did not know it was a popularity contest. emoSorry I love reading all your posts. I get as much out of ones that are not successful as ones that sometimes are. It allows me to eliminate that idea or pattern. I look at any report that say bass. I also look at the crappie reports mostly too since I sometimes like to catch them to eat. emoHungry I look at all of fishinvol's reports and posts but often do not comment since I do not fish carter...I do not even own a GA licence. emoRolleyes I wished everyone posted more, I sometimes do not feel like it but then I think I am doing what I would rather not everyone else was and that would be skipping posting. This forum has gotten so big that often it takes a while just to review what you are interested in. That is a good thing. emoThumbsup If you don't want to give up all then just give up what parts you are willing to share. Maybe pattern, water temp, depth...ex. Something is better then nothing so please post away. emoTongue Jmax

Been trying to post, but with the sickness in the family i've had, I havn't had time. I havn't gotten my TN licence yet, but still read the reports anyways because the patterns don't change much from lake to lake(sometimes). I understand why people would join and not post, because they want to check reports ect, but to tell someone "hello" in the new members section and someone "congrats" in the reports or bragging board only takes a few seconds to do. I always shoot for the ones that don't have a alot of views because it helps encourage them to post more. I still have a question in Boats and motors that hasn't been answered, but I still post anyways, but it would be nice to atleast get "i dont know" instead of nothing.

I don't post very much because I have sold my boat and don't get to fish anymore add to that my wife and I have a baby on the way. But I still check in to see some reports and pics of some good fish and how much weight it takes to win the tourneys around. I hope to be able to contribute a little because this forum has been very helpful to me!

I post a lot on the 4 sale forum but being in the boat biz I never get to fish. And nobody wants to hear me brag about my daughter and what a stud of a soft ball player she is, lol.

I thought about this for a bit before I posted
I know I may get blasted for this but I am going to say it since you asked

I have been a member here for a little over 2 years, I post some but not a lot
When I have something to contribute, I do so

But it is my opinion, that you have created a site that is unfriendly towards new people.
As has been said you are all quick to complain about some one padding their post count, but what you have doe is make new people afraid to post for fear of being accused
This also cuts down on the welcome to our site posts
When I am a new person and only 3 people welcome me on my introduction post. That's unfriendly

Even your board tournaments come off as a clickish group of people, why should I have to have a minimum post cont to enjoy what the board community has to offer?
Believe me if I like the people and the camaraderie My post count will sky rocket because I will be far more interested in posting

I can't have a signature unless I contribute cash to the site, yet this site is full of paid ads. Other sites, much bigger than this one, allows us to have jpeg signatures without having to pay
I am here because this site is local and I appreciate the contact with local people, however, I spend the majority of my time on another site that doesn't worry about padding post counts

Even this thread has turned into a popularity contest reference. When it should be a more constructive discussion on getting new people to post

as a disclaimer let it be known I don't care to fish the CFF tournaments, and don't care about my post count. I am merely posting my impressions about why I was/am reluctant to post

Sometimes I feel that if I post something people are just going to be harsh or sarcastic when you just want a question answered. CFF is a good site, but like AreTheyBiting said, "A bit clickish." I love CFF and I have met some great people on here. I just feel like the welcomeness, and the actual fishing information has gone down a lot since when I first joined up.

I guess with 22 possts in two years I would be a surfer. But I must say that tend to agree with Are They Biting. I don't think that I have had a friendly reply to any post other than buying something and my question about my HB card. But I don't fish the Chic much and it seems to me that most here fish the lower end and beyond. But there is alot of stuff for sale and that is where I spend most of my time. I honestly have no complaints about this site what-so-ever, but you did ask for an opinion.

im fairly new to the site, ive been on a year or there abouts and i have posted several times from just talking about fishing to asking various questions ,i have had a few that dont even know me leave me their name and phone numbers just so they could answer a question in more detail, and ive read many posts on here that have helped in some way or the other i read one the other day about someone hooking theirself in the back of the head with a zara spook (with pictures added)and i laughed so hard at some of the ribbing they gave him i had tears in my eyes, and so far everyone has been nice and friendly.keep up the good work.

I think that I take making posts in waves. I post for a little while and then I fish for awhile and don't. There is no intention in not posting, I suppose my only excuse is I am just too d_ _n lazy. Thanks for the wake up call and when I do go, I'll try to do better (but remember I'm lazy so don't get your hopes up!!!). See you on the water and the net.......Jim

Thanks so much for the input guys, the feedback is just what we are looking for. Although, MOST that are posting why, actually post semi-regular, Im still hoping the many thousands that dont ever make a post will also chime in.

As far as the thread being a popularity contest, Im not sure I see the implication, yes some regulars have chimed in, but every and all opinions and sarcasm is welcomed on CFF. I firmly believe that a lot of sarcasm is taken literally by other reading it, most times its friends ribbing each other with inside jokes.

I would strongly suggest that those that dont feel like they are part of a group here, PM someone or post in the need a ride forum about going fishing with other members. I promise if you participate, you will find some of the best fishermen, and friends right here, several I have met on this board are the best friends Ive had in my 39 years.

My son started racing bicycles several years ago and the boat and everything else had to go! Been chasing national titles instead of bass ever since.I still come here from time to time to keep up on what's going on as eventually he'll be out on his own and I'll get to fish again.

I've been real busy
