Chattanooga Fishing Forum

Help Support Chattanooga Fishing Forum:

I haven't posted on the forum in quite some time. Not anything against anyone on here. I do not have a boat so most of my fishing is done from the banks or backwater creeks. And I haven't had much good luck fishing within the last 12 or so months. I don't figure going to the creek and catching a couple of blue gills that are not much larger than your hand on crawlers is much of a report.

I used to be alot more involved but went on a hiatus where I didn't even "check in" on the CCF except maybe once every month or two. Recently I have been visiting more frequent, especially with all the "eye candy" being posted in reports.

The way Tndoe has been catching the large bass and catfish lately I think she has FOUND the secret holes!!

There is a lot more to the forum than just fishing reports, although they are the driving force behind the site. Lots of other places to make posts, even if it is just to compliment someone who has caught a nice fish or to say thanks for an informative post - be it fishing reports, discussion, jokes, news, questions, items for sale, political views, recipes, hunting, or whatever. We even appreciate the "no fish" fishing reports, because then we don't feel like it is only us..................

This forum community is only what we make of it. I for one appreciate all of the info, fun, and poking at each other - and yes, the praise when I get lucky and haul in a big 'un. I do, however, understand how it can be a bit scary to get involved and take a risk that someone might be judgemental or just outright dislike something that you might say. It happens. It has happened in this thread a couple of times. It certainly has happened to me, and it bothered me. But I got over it each time. I haven't let the occasional cross word ruin what I so enjoy on this site.

We just don't know what you like to see and hear folks post about if you don't give us some feedback on the posts you like - or dislike! Participation is a lot more fun for me than just lurking. I hope you enjoy this place as much as I do!!!!!! emoBigsmile emoBigsmile

I will agree with several of you; I post if I have a good day, I don't always post if I have a bad day. Who wants to hear I went fishing all day and caught one fish? Why would I want to admit I went fishing all day and caught one fish? Yes, I am relearning the lake and learning where the fish are at certain times of the year through the forum but I am not catching a lot of fish or any big fish to report. I guess if Spurhunter is right and I tell what I didn't catch fish on then maybe it would save someone else a little time, but as i have read on here time after time that bait presentation is the real fishing method, not what bait you use,so I am not sure how relevant that would even be to anyone.
Us newbies and relearners are depending on you experts to give us the information we need to become better fishermen. A lot of posts show the fish you caught but do not give a lot of information on lure selection, lure colors, type of structure, retrieve method etc. If I am expecting too much from fishing reports here someone let me know.
I have been fifty yards from other boats that are catching fish left and right, can see they are throwing a spinnerbait, can't catch a fish on a spinnerbait to save my life and have not a clue why! I don't want to yell out what the hell are you doing to catch fish! Well, I do want to but I won't. In order to learn we need to know what you are doing that we are not.
Don't take me wrong here, I have learned a lot from reading these reports and I appreciate the ones that report; I have learned a lot about lures and the fishermans lingo. I didn't even know what tx stood for when I first joined the forum so I have come a long way and got an even further way to go before I can consider myself a good fisherman. I generally ask questions in the forum unless I am too embarrrassed and then I might PM you if I think it is something I should know.
So pease don't hold back on posting reports, a lot of us have a lot to learn and then we can also make contributions by catching fish on what we learn and start posting. Just my 2 cents.

We all started out on this forum just like all you newbies. Nervous to chime, ask questions,ect... but it's just part of it. Crap, half of what I post nowadays is just me being a goofball. I post reports from time to time and i try to be informative, but I have learned over the years that too much info on the internet can kick you in the a** . I fish a handful of differant lakes around here and am more than willing to take someone and show them around. You split gas and drinks and it's all good. I'm not a guide by any means, but I try my hardest to put people on fish. I've taken a lot of Cffer's over the last couple years just to teach them a new technique or just to have fun and fish. That's what it's all about to me is having fun. As for the clicks on here, yea I can see how it would come across like that, but really there isn't any real click. I've met some outstanding people on this board ! Some of them I talk to nearly everyday, and some I talk to just randomly. But as far as a fishing forum goes, this one is by far and away the most friendly ! I've been on a couple that will chew you up and spit you out, then light you on fire just because you asked (what they thought was a dumb question) a question. If anyone ever has a question about a post I made or anything I may know about, I don't hesitate to answer your question to the best of my ability.

I wish CFF was like Facebook and we could "Like" (or "Dislike") certain posts without commenting.

But for what it is worth, I think this has been a fairly productive thread with some great input... in spite of the fact that we still haven't seen anyone post that has a "1" on their "Posts" count.

Truth is however, no individual, or even a group of individuals (Moderators) can make any overall changes in a forum of this size. Internet Forums take on a life of their own, reflecting the collective personality of everyone involved (and even those who are not).

As someone else mentioned, in spite of occasional brick-throwing, CFF has maintained a relatively friendly personality. And that means life is good and gettin' better every day! emoBigsmile

Very good point Richard, and I think it speaks to the overall quality of members on this board.

I had a conversation with Mike from Firstlight a few weeks ago and he said CFF is the ONLY forum he doesnt get a constant barrage of problems (between members and/or mods) to deal with. He said mods do a good job, I said it was the members, plain and simple. This IS the internet, which breeds arguments over sometimes serious and sometimes silly things, but to find a group, even if its JUST the most active members, that can stay this civil on a consistent basis is rare. I am a member or moderator on multiple forums, trusts me when I say CFF is TAME.

Hello people, I have'nt fished very much over the last 18 months or so, nothing serious and I really have'nt had anything to report. I do enjoy reading all the posts its educational as well as funny. Iwill start to at least post a symbol of some kind. Lord willing and the creek dont rise its about to get a little more crowed out on the water. I just got an on-board charger and I plan on fishing a lot more soon! See ya on the water.

I have been a member for about two months and mostly been reading about different equipment, tips and tricks, and some of the do's and dont's. I have learned a lot from many members that have way more experience and knowledge of fishing than i do. I think some new members, like myself, dont feel we have anything beneficial to add to most of the topics being discussed. For that reason this is also my first post. I hope to one day be able to contribute some useful info. Even if we don't post or give a thumbs up most of us newbies appreciate what you guys do.

Hi freeman351 emoWelcome

Thanks for joining the party. Not sure if you are new to fishing, or just new to CFF. Regardless, you might be surprised by how much you can contribute. I know of more than one time in my life that I've been embarassed on the water by a "newbie," when I was supposed to be the one who knew where and how to fish. emoDoh It happens far more often than you think because (us) oldtimers get in ruts and can't get out. It often takes new blood to help us see new alternatives.

I'll look forward to your contributions.

Like Richard said....Welcome Freeman. emoWelcome

I will say that I can understand that it sometimes feels like this sight can get a little clickish. I also will say that we have a huge mixture of people from millionaires, to blue class, white collar, retirees and all those in between. Most of us never even knew each other before getting on here and we started chatting. Some members have come, gone, come back on and then gone again. emoRolleyes It is not about how good a fisherman you are or how big your biggest deer is or was. It is about fellowship. Sharing a sport we all find in common and through sharing improving ourselves in what we love to do or want to start doing. No question is a stupid question. I know you may get ribbed over one now and then but if you take that too serious you need to lighten up. The next day it will be someone else. Also once you start getting ribbed you also start getting known. Then if you show up to a weigh in or fish one you can put a face with a name. emoThumbsup Get involved by posting, fellow shipping, asking questions and just general participation. That is how you will feel more comfortable to do it more often. I do not believe I have ever had a PM I did not answer. emoScratch It may not have been the answer wanted but I answered it. I have learned more on this sight then any other resource I can remember in my 53 years on this earth. Maybe the BASS magazine, but that I think really is a close second. I have fished with 45 different members on this sight and I am sure there will be others.

This is a good post, I am glad to see some of you guys and gals posting for the first time or not too often chiming in. I do not know of one member on here that has ever intentionally insulted or bashed someone with the intent of hurting them. Maybe a bad judgement of words or ribbing gone south, but it never was intended to hurt someone. Try to tuffen up your skin and jump in with the rest of us. We welcome you to join the party, group or click. emoGeezer Jmax

Thanks so much for your input and welcome to the forum! As has been stated, there is a lot of info about a ton of topics on the forum, there is a thread about how to get your grass back in your yard right now in off topics. While the focus in on fishing, being a locally focused forum its amazing what you can learn here, or help another member with.

I would also add, have any of you guys that dont post due to thinking "Im not that good or know enough" ever read a report, and thought, " I wonder about..." THAT is your time to post. Ask the question if your thinking about it. What depth, what color, what time of day, what was the flow, wind like, or sunny cloudy, etc. Ask if they sawthefloat plane running up and down the river looking like it was about to crash, all input is valuable here.

sold my boat and havent wet a line in two years. i still enjoy reading the reports. i am looking for a small boat 12 to 14 ft. small tiller steer outboard.
