RE: Verse of the Day John Chapter 5 Lame man with mat
Everyone, I noticed that this thread has been viewed almost a million times! That is awesome, praise God for the freedom we have to post His Word and for the CFF having this platform available.
Our pastor not so long ago preached a sermon about the lame man from John chapter 5 who Jesus healed. There are so many lessons for all of us in this true story.
John 5:5 - 9 KJV
"5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Will thou be made whole? 7 The impotent (lame) man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. 8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed (mat), and walk. 9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath."
We can learn many lessons from this account: Just a few of them are - When we are down on our "mat" so to speak, God doesn't intend for us to stay down. We have to want to get up, do better, and do our part. The man at first had his excuses why he was still down on his mat. Excuses are just that and "I can't - never did anything" as the saying goes. The man believed Jesus, he didn't argue, he obeyed and got up. God speaks to us in many ways but I am keenly aware that as the scriptures teach us, God does speak in a still, quiet voice. So often I think we get so busy with all the noise from life that we don't hear.
Anyway almost 1,000,000 views - let's keep this thread active and hit that million mark and more. God Bless you all and all praise to the Lamb who was slain for you and I!
