John 14:27 KJV
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

Luke 9: 24-25 NIV
24"For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it. 25 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self?"

Hebrews 12:2 KJV
"Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."

1 Corinthians 9:27 KJV
"But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection; lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway."

Paul is reminding us all that just because anyone including each of us talks the talk we also have to walk the walk. I can know the truth, I can tell others the truth, but if I myself don't follow the truth then I will suffer the consequences.

James 1:22-24 NIV
"Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like."

Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."

Familiar foundational scriptures about salvation but we all need reminding sometimes that our reconciliation back to God is 100% God, we can't work our way there and no one could ever be "good" enough.

Great verse on our eternal security in Jesus!
John 10:28 KJV
"And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand."

Micah 6:8
"He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."

This verse is so profound. Israel was only paying lip service to God, they did not follow him with their hearts. God in His great love clearly tells them what they need to do to be in a right relationship with Him. These Words apply today. Yet our society values not acting justly but trickery, our society is hard hearted with the attitude of me first, take care of number 1 and give others what you think they deserve which isn't anything good. And of course our society has grown too smart, too independent to need God let alone walk with Him. In fact our society preaches that you don't need God because each person is their own God. We live in a sad day but Jesus will return for His own. Be ready!

2 Corinthians 4:18 NIV
"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

For those who trust in Jesus our focus is not on all the "stuff" that this world focuses on. Wood, hay, and stubble is what the Bible calls all this world's stuff and it will all amount to nothing. Far better to concern ourselves with eternity. I just saw a quote that I liked which in so many words said, "Everyone of us will spend eternity somewhere, like real estate the main point is -- Location, location, location!"

Colossians 1:13-14 NIV
"13: For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14: in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins."

Need to be rescued? Jesus is the answer!

1 Thessalonians 4:14 KJV
"For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him."

Jesus is coming back and what a day that will be. Make sure you are ready, He could come at any moment!

Romans 8: 5 - 7 NIV
"5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so."

Exodus 14:14 NIV
"The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still."

What a blessing this verse is! It is also a reminder that we often need to just be still, to let God have His will and way. It is hard to do, we want to step up and "run" the show but that isn't how the Lord works. When we get involved we will then want the credit for the outcome.
